Cudos for WKU having the guts to basically start subcontracting their own product.

It's clear leaving that in the hands of the conference is getting us nowhere.

Agree on Marshall. Reach out to the team at WSAZ, have Keith Morehouse and whoever run the games we can't pick up. Offer the games to the MY Z station. Most everyone can pick that up with either cable, satellite or bunny ears.

There are dozens of stations like MY Z that most affiliates carry that can work.

Heck, here in Lexington I can pick up nearly 20 free channels. You're gonna tell me these stations aren't looking for content!?

Western has their own TV station and been carrying most of the games (football/basketball) since the 80s.

Fox Sports (Directv) started picking up the games about 10 years ago

Marshall used to carry its games not picked up nationally on NBC locally. I used to work in the athletic department during my time at Marshall when we would use WSAZ a lot more.

Wouldn't shock me at all if somehow the relationship soured. A lot of good ideas get shot down or are discontinued simply if wasn't the "bosses" idea.

WSAZ got outbid by WCHS to carry content and they also own WVAH Fox and started using Fox to air games when CUSA went to Fox for primary affiliate. But WCHS being a Charleston station shows all WVU games not on ESPN and rarely carried Marshall games. So WSAZ didn't want us bad enough to outbid other local channels for us. That was when all the Morehouse/Randall games ended.

And in 2017 Marshall has options. I guess my point being that there is an insane amount of opportunity if you wanted to show games to do so.

And for whatever reason, this conference and Marshall for that matter haven't really taken control the way that I would like to see it. Good for WKU.

Gutsy and forward-thinking. I like it. I wish ODU could do something similar

As of right now the only WKU basketball game including exhibition games that will not be on national tv or streaming service (stadium or cusa.tv) is the Ohio game in Athens, OH. Chances are that gets picked up as well. One of my favorite things about leaving the Sun Belt was CUSA giving WKU the go ahead to be able to get their private partnership with Fox College Sports back that Belt commissioner Wright Waters made us cancel in our final 2 years in the conference. It allows any games not picked up as part of the conference TV package to still be aired nationally.

Also our games on FCS will also be on FOx Sports Go app with live streaming, so that will help any opponents too who want to watch game live and maybe not near a TV....Honestly wish every game was on FCS even the ones that are on Stadium or ESPN3.....However prefer Stadium over ESPN3....

No it was Waters who forced us to end our deal with FCS on his way out the door right before Benson took over.

LOL. That's funny. Waters loved us. (That's probably why he didn't like y'all ;-)). It was Benson who hated us with a passion from the moment he walked through the doors.
