CSUB-Long Beach State Charity Game
http://gorunners.com/news/2017/10/25/men...-lbsu.aspx

Quote:CSU Bakersfield's men's basketball team has scheduled a charity exhibition game against Long Beach State for Monday, Oct. 30. The Roadrunners and 49ers will meet in the Walter Pyramid in Long Beach, Calif. at 8 p.m., with all proceeds from the contest going to support relief efforts for the California fires.

Rod Barnes, Head Coach of the `Runners, was eager to partner with LBSU in the effort to support the Sonoma County Resilience Fund: "I have seen the devastation these fires have caused on the news and our team is ready to do anything to help out all of the people who have lost their homes and their loved ones. We can't wait to go down there and contribute to this cause."

The NCAA issued approval for this matchup and the funds will go directly to the Resilience Fund set up following the devastating fires earlier this month. This organization was specifically chosen for their efforts following the fires. Below is a link for more information on the Resilience Fund.

"The firestorm that ravaged Sonoma County over the past two weeks has taken a devastating toll on our community, with 6,800 structures destroyed, 23 deaths, and more than $3 billion in losses. More than 100,000 people were displaced from their homes, and countless numbers of people have lost absolutely everything.

While this disaster has been chaotic, the response should not be. With 34 years of experience in philanthropy, we know how to make strategic and impactful grants to support the well-being of our community. To date we've given out more than $200 million dollars to Sonoma County organizations addressing issues such as housing, hunger, economic well-being and mental health.

Recovery from these fires will take years, and we're committed to this community for the long term. We have launched the Sonoma County Resilience Fund to address the mid to long-term needs of those impacted by these devastating fires."

LBSU will open the doors to the Walter Pyramid at 7 p.m., concessions will be available, and all seating is general admission. Tickets for adults will be $10, while admission for students and seniors will be $5. Streaming will not be available for the game; the only way to follow the action will be to join us in the Walter Pyramid for this great cause.

Nice to see CSUB getting in on the action. Long Beach is generally considered a light favorite in a pretty open Big West.

I may have attended LB as one of my universities, but they have a negative allegiance of mine. Go Runners!
