In all fairness they are going off the conference standings on CUSA's official website. Oddly enough they've got us listed as first place in the West so really this is the epitome of CUSA we're talking about here.

Looks like someone needs a little “Standing reading 101”. Both have the same record so we are tied for first. If it were to remain the same they would win the tie breaker and play in the championship. Shouldn’t be hard to understand.

B cause we are 5-2 and they are 4-3 overall.

Overall has nothing to do with conference standings. It will only come into play in a tie breaker scenario. Normally in a tie situation teams are listed alphabetically. Looks like CUSA chose to do otherwise. However, it looks like USM added the 1, 2, 3 ...etc... on the places. CUSA Just has the teams listed and their records.

the bottom line??? it's stupid to represent the teams (if both win out) in that fashion.....

Just looked at the CUSA standings again, they haven’t changed from when I looked at them earlier. I would have listed North Texas first personally because ties are usually listed alphabetically. If it ends this way at the end of regular season, both will be declared West Champions with North Texas going to the championship game because of the tie breaker. USM shouldn’t have numbered the places 1 & 2...Should have been two 1’s...
