Tunnel Experience
ODU is advertising FB tickets with the catch phrase of capturing the "tunnel experience"...which strikes me as rather bizarre.

https://s1.postimg.org/2c73gdvdsd/Captur...-43-00.png

The 'tunnel experience" is what exactly?

Being kept in the dark and given the shaft?

Run through a small underground tube while you breathe noxious fumes?

Told to turn on your lights and avoid changing lanes?

Boxed in with limited options as traffic stalls leaving you hopelessly stuck for an indeterminate period of time?

Actually, after giving it some thought, it's a perfect metaphor for ODU's current FB program. 03-lmfao

RE: Tunnel Experience
Well based on the ad it appears that the tunnel experience is..."Ticket holders get to form the tunnel that the Monarchs run through before kickoff!"

Considering the Monarchs have one of the worst teams in the country, odds are the team trips and falls before they even make it to the tunnel...

Maybe they should just let the promo participants suit up. Not sure the age cutoff should be 12 though, I bet some 9 year olds could contribute quite a bit to their program.

They have to pay to stand there on the field in a line?!

Here's an idea... get a huge group of JMU fans buy "tunnel tickets" and wear all purple.
They can't kick you out.. you paid for it!

RE: Tunnel Experience
Speaking of tunnel experience - it’s been really cool to see how loud the students get on the way to the game going thru the Tunnel at Duke Dog Alley. It’s defintely a thing this year with the students and has been Very loud each week. Seems like a small thing but it’s a good habit they are learning as our fan base continues to grow.

We've noticed that too. Has quickly become a fun part of my crew's walk to BFS.

Is this the tunnel experience ODU is referring to?

Does this typically happen about 30 minutes prior to kick-off?

As someone that only gets to make the trip east for 1-2 games a year, love hearing about new traditions and living vicariously

Sort of, but it's not organized in any way. More of just when a bunch of people are walking through the tunnel, some student will inevitably yell out a "J-M-U!" and everyone in the tunnel just knows now that the automatic response is "Duuuuuuuuukes!"

Gameday helped a lot because there was a lot more people coming and going both ways throughout the day with people going up to the Quad for the show and then heading back to their tailgates before turning around and heading into the game. Definitely looking forward to a couple tunnel trips this weekend!

I'd say closer to about 15 minutes before game time. The Upper Convo is loaded with students more than ever before. The walking trip from there to BFS is getting close to reminding one of how soccer fans make their walks together from the parking lots through the streets to the stadium singing songs, chants, etc.

Yep. A bunch of random yelling on the way down the steps from the Convo and then when you hit the tunnel it gets LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUD and more "together" among the fans!

Love it - thanks everyone from the recount.

coming in for the Richmond game and parking in R1, might have to make a detour prior to going in BFS.

The tunnel chants have been there for years, but winning makes them better, louder, and more often than ever before.
