RE: Let's say Norvell leaves
I wouldn't be at all surprised if some sports agents who represent up and coming coaches have already contacted Tom Bowen with names of interested parties. I think the Memphis job is the perfect next step up for an assistant coach at a major program who is ready to go to the next step as a head coach. There is a great group of young proven players waiting, no rats nest to unravel, a great fan base and national TV exposure. They can spend two years at Memphis...have a winning record, gain national exposure and move on to a job in the ACC, Big 12 or SEC as a head coach. I would think a lot of assistant coaches have already figured this out and are just waiting for Norvell to leave. Even without that scenario, Tom Bowen has a great program and situation to pitch to the coach he wants.

Butch Jones did ok at Cinci...not so much at Tennessee. I think he would do well at a smaller job like Memphis.
Now I wouldn't say HIRE him for sure....but he can work better when he doesn't have that kind of pressure on him.
Same for for Kevin Sumlin.
He killed it at Houston, not so much at Texas A&M. Sometimes, guys get in over their heads.(See Rip Scherer, and Rey Dempsey)

Personally, I'd call Chip Long, Brad Cornelson, and I know you'll laugh here...guys like Butch Davis or Lane Kiffin.

Forget the retreads. Go young and hungry.

Butch Davis has been a success wherever he has went. Has a national championship ring to boot.
Kiffin is one of the more brilliant offensive minds in college football...and can recruit. IF Norvell were to leave, you'd want a coach who could hang on to our recruiting class.

Is this an Arkansas Board? I kid, surprisingly his name isn't message board fodder this time around. Malzahn talk is pretty low too. That's national folk pushing that narritive. Now, the fact that Norvell was with Malzahn at Tulsa for a year has been mentioned.

I know that guy. He’s just a troublemaker. Our AD has to walk an extra 1/4 mile on game days just to walk around him.

You're probably right. Just dreaming really. Although his name has now shown up on the official hot seat list at #30. I can't believe Harbaugh is #6 - surely he gets another year. Also think Odom and Sumlin should be higher than where they are.

Yeah for the HC. I'm sure you're talking about him following him to Nebraska but why wouldn't he want his own gig?

because hes been an OC for only 2 yrs now. last yr and this year. hasnt really proven much. he may be able to get his own deal, but following Frost and then branching off would be better

If Clemson wants to fire Dabo Swinney by Dec. 1, it will cost $40 million & FSU would need $39 million to get rid of Jimbo via USA Today

Wonder if the clown in this video always has such a potty mouth? Probably didn't use that language when he was talking to Bowen. Not impressed with what he obviously thought was some heroic gesture.

You would be correct about him not using that language. He was polite and respectful when speaking to our AD.

You are just jelly because no one wants to make you AD.

This one is weird. According to some reports the University went to McElwain and wanted to help protect him and his family. He said he would handle the situation.

So the University does its due diligence and the coach says no thanks. I am wondering if he was just popping off at the mouth? If he was, is that a fireable offense??

Strange time here in FL
