Rivalry Week: UAB-USM
Southern Miss is coming off a huge 2OT comeback road win over La Tech and we're coming off a bad OT loss to Charlotte. We've won 5 of the last 6 against Southern Miss and hoping to make it 6 of 7. Should be a good game...go blazers!

This speaks volumes why USM fans know our team better show up ready for a war this Saturday.

After USM beat UAB 70-14 in 2008 UAB has gone on to win 5 of the last 6 meetings. And if previous meetings (2008-2014) are any indicator this is going to be a high scoring game as the 2 lowest point totals in that 2008-14 timeframe are 46 and 47 points respectively. USM's last 2 wins in the series we scored 62 (2013) and 70 points (2008). Here's to an exciting and injury free game, but one that USM wins. 05-stirthepot

You guys think this will be a low scoring game or high scoring? You guys have the best RB in the league IMO. Hopefully we can contain him and not give up any big plays.

I would lean toward low scoring if I had to choose one, but I expect the winning team to be in the low to mid 30s and the losing team in the 20s. Our defense is pretty good this year, and while our offense has lots of playmakers, it also gets penalized a lot and has a knack for turning the ball over. So, that makes all of our games headscratchers and quite frustrating at times because it appears our talent level is on the way back to where we once were.

Looks like it's going to be a cool evening with no rain. Temps should be around 50 or so at kickoff and dip into the upper 40s by/around halftime and the rain appears to be moved out by early Saturday morning. Safe travels UAB fans

Clark is a good coach and he is going to be able to expose Keon Howard's weaknesses.

We really need to try to mitigate that by establishing a running game early.

Maybe we need to designate them a rival as they have won 5 of the last 6 games played between the two teams as a non-rival.

Nah....we shat our pants in the 2011 game, the other losses came against some of our worst teams ever.

Our rivals are Tulane, East Carolina and Memphis....and I guess the "powers-that-be" shat their pants on that one , too. 03-lmfao

This is not to degrade UAB, La Tech or anyone...they just ain't our rivals.

Do majority Southern Miss fans feel this way? I know a lot of fellow UAB fans that consider Southern Miss to be a big rival. Memphis is still probably at the top of the list for us though.
