Darrel Dickey... my bad.

You're certainly more familiar with Dickies than I.

fyp:
me am.
you is
he are

No, his grammar was correct the first time. Fixed it back.

Do tell

you are certainly more familiar with dickies than I.

isnt me used with as the object of the preposition "than" (which can sometimes be as conjunction but not in this case).

so it would be
you are certainly more familiar with dickies than me.

it can be confusing, for example,

the dickies looked better on me, although I would never wear them as they made my testicles itch.

where dickies are the noun and looked is the verb and me is the object of looked bound by the preposition on; the conjunction "although" resets the sentence calling for the nominative I bound to the verb wear, in this case making "me' come before "I" in the sentence

or maybe i be wrong. me aint sure.

welp...than can be used as a preposition, in which case the correct answer is 'me'.

Or it can be used elliptically as a conjunction in which case the correct answer would be I.

I am now confused. But originally, when I corrected him, it was just a joke. I thought he was correct already when he used 'I'.

Simply complete the thought... the verb is implied.

“More familiar with Dickies than I “am”... or
“More familiar with Dickies than me “am”

The correct usage is “I”.

That's what me thought too. I was just being funny when I changed the 'I' to me, but then I looked online and saw that 'than' can be a preposition.

And I thought wtf....than a preposition? What kind of new BS is that?!

We've always been taught to complete the thought. (And nobody says... Me am, though many say Than me.)

Maybe it's one of those things that changed when we weren't looking. lol

'Is' is a passive verb. Thus, the 'this is he' on the phone. With is a preposition and the objective form of the pronoun (as opposed to the subjective form) is used. Thus, the 'you are more familiar with this than me.'

I get the this is he or she, as the case may be.

But if you complete the thought you get, 'thus, you are more familiar with this than me am'.

And yet, sometimes we do complete this type of sentence out loud. 'Thus you are more familiar with Dickies than I am.' 'Me' could not be used in place of 'I' in that spoken sentence by any stretch. lol

I got it: 'Thus you are more familiar with Dickies than I will ever be.'

*11-1 (American champions!)

Then in 50 years when the AAC doesn’t exist anymore we can point to that banner and say, “grandson, we were the American Champions”, & pretend we won it all.
