Playoff Predictions
The first ranking is coming out on October 31st...isn't that appropriate?

Anyway, forget whatever you thought you knew about what the AP poll has been saying the last several weeks because they literally don't matter anymore. The CFP committee rules the roost and they will soon be setting the agenda for the rest of the season.

My prediction for week 1.

1. Alabama...BYE week before the rankings come out
2. Penn State...assuming they beat Ohio State
3. Georgia...assuming they beat Florida
4. Notre Dame...assuming they beat NC State

In the conversation:

5. TCU...assuming they beat Iowa State
6. Clemson...assuming they beat Georgia Tech
7. Wisconsin...assuming they beat Illinois
8. Miami...assuming they beat North Carolina

-Personally, I think the PAC has played themselves out of it. A lot of chaos is going to have to ensure to get them back in it.

-If Clemson wins out they will get the benefit of the doubt as the defending champion.

-If Penn State wins out then the Big Ten is good. If they have to rely on Wisconsin as their flag bearer then they could be in trouble.

-TCU needs to be undefeated because OU will not get the benefit of the doubt if Ohio State doesn't win their division.

-Expect calls for change when/if either Notre Dame or 2 SEC teams make the field. Expect riots in the street if BOTH Notre Dame and 2 SEC teams make the field.

Playoff Predictions
I think that you have the right teams but maybe not the right order. My prediction for the CFP is 1) Alabama 2) Penn State 3) Clemson 4) Georgia. I think ND loss to Georgia is the deciding factor. I think my top 3 will be in with Georgia, ND & TCU battling it out for the 4th spot. I don't think that TCU will go undefeated & ND may trip up again, possibly against NC State.

Week 1
1 Alabama
2 Penn State
3 TCU
4 Clemson

5 Wisconsin
6 Georgia
7 Miami
8 ND

Show me where the conference with the worst OOC record has the SOS to get T.C.U. in? Clemson will lose again if the QB can't play due to concussion. When Notre Dame knocks off Miami they'll take the final slot.

Alabama, either Ohio State/Penn State (We'll know after the weekend), Notre Dame, and Georgia if they play Alabama close and don't stumble on the way to Atlanta. Wisconsin and Penn State both have a shot if they both are undefeated when they meet and then play a close game. I don't think T.C.U. finishes undefeated. If Oklahoma wins out they'll have a shot.

So right now I'd say the final four will be Alabama, (Ohio State, Penn State, Wisconsin winner), Notre Dame, and possibly (Georgia, Wisconsin, Oklahoma).

Nobody else will really be in the running.

My predictions for Week 1...

Sugar Bowl: #1 Alabama vs. #4 TCU
Rose Bowl: #2 Penn St vs. #3 Georgia

Orange Bowl: Miami vs. Notre Dame
Fiesta Bowl: Ohio St vs. Washington
Cotton Bowl: Oklahoma vs. Wisconsin
Peach Bowl: Clemson vs. Central Florida

End of season predictions...

Sugar Bowl: #1 Alabama vs. #4 Notre Dame
Rose Bowl: #2 Penn St vs. #3 Clemson

Championship: #4 Notre Dame 04-jawdrop vs. #2 Penn St

Orange Bowl: Miami vs. Wisconsin
Fiesta Bowl: Oklahoma vs. Washington
Cotton Bowl: TCU vs. Ohio St
Peach Bowl: Georgia vs. Central Florida

I used the same 12 schools but I fully expect to see a couple differences.

I have TCU in in week 1, not in the CFP. We pretty much agree on TCU but if they do go undefeated then they will be in over any 1 loss team.

I don't think that Clemson will lose again but we'll see this weekend. Also they have a strong SOS. ND has the loss to Georgia already & the lack of a 13th game, they may already be out. In past seasons we've had teams come out of nowhere to make it in, that could happen this year. Miami, VT, NC State, PAC?

I'll stick with my final 4 of 1) Alabama 2) Penn State 3) Clemson 4) Georgia.

RE: Playoff Predictions
I'll be a contrarian: I think since GA beat ND head to head if their only loss winds up being to Alabama they could still make it given enough chaos elsewhere. I tend to agree that the PAC may already be out of the running.

1 Alabama
2 Penn St
3 Miami
4 TCU

Undefeated teams from the remaining P5 conferences.

Which puts
5 Georgia
6 Wisconsin

Then your choice of other one loss schools:
ND
NC State/Clemson/VT
OK/OK State
Michigan State/Ohio State
Washington State/Washington

along side UCF/USF

RE: Playoff Predictions
1. Alabama--tide rolls undefeated
2. Penn State--if they go undefeated and get past OSU, MSU and Wisconsin
3. Georgia---they get a bump from a high ranking number 5 school
4. TCU--they have an offense and defense that should propel them through the Big 12 undefeated

5. Norte Dame
6. Ohio State
7. Wisconsin
8. Clemson

5) Penn State
6) Notre Dame
7) Clemson
8) Oklahoma

I think the list for the committee will probably be quite different. But if they were going to be placed fairly based on what has been done so far the list would look like this:

Georgia, Alabama, Wisconsin, Miami, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Penn State, Clemson, Oklahoma State, Washington, Virginia Tech, T.C.U.

The undefeated are placed by quality of schedule and # of wins. The one loss schools are placed by the quality of wins and losses. Oklahoma beat Ohio State, Ohio State beat Penn State. Clemson I placed above Oklahoma State because of schedule. Washington is leading a conference but schedule is debatable. Virginia Tech has the toughest part of its schedule ahead. So does T.C.U.

I only feel confident about #1 and 2 with UGa getting the nod due to sos. Everyone else has pluses and minuses. They are not worth arguing here and it'll get sorted out in the next month.

I think your top 3 are what we will see tomorrow, #4 is the one that I don't really know what the committee will do.
