Would the real FAU please step forward, are you the FAU that lost to Buffalo or the FAU that blasted UNT?
Would the real UNT please step forward, damn, what the F happened in Boca.
I am going to have to roll with consistency instead of knee jerk reactions, the safe bet.
1. Marshall (for now, to be continued following the grit of the schedule), would be a solid 1 if offense was more dominant.
2.USM-has been consistent......mostly, not pretty but consistent.
3.FAU-Navy stole your girlfriend, ugly loss to UB, but then there is the horrifying destruction of UNT, not sure what to make of them at this point, few more games will tell it, could be 1, 2 or 3 at this point.
4.UTSA-Supposed to be the dominant team in the west, but not looking so dominant.
5. LT- solid, not pretty, lost some close ones.
6.WKU-not last year's hilltoppers, but still a threat, think more of 2014 WKU is what we have here.
7.NT-Honestly they could be anywhere from #3 to #7 spot, still a bit shocked from last weekend, we get to see if they are the real deal or was pretending the first half of the season, rebound rebound.
8.MTSU-not because I think they are better than UAB, but they should be, too much talent on D to be in the 8th spot, but here we are.
9.UAB- Man, they could be ranked up to 5, I am praying for a UAB team to go bowling, but for now, they are here. Clark is a hell of a coach, but UNCC loss hurts.
10. FIU- I know I know, they are currently 4-2, half way decent win over Tulane, but their losses............getting blasted by UCF, and then beat by 20 to MT (without stockstill mind you), while eecking out small margin victories, lands you at #10. Definitely can finish higher though, one team to watch for as the season progresses.
11. ODU-summed up in 2 words "growing pains". Played very competitive at times and others not at all. Seems to be doing some better as the season progresses.
12. Rice-Honestly, they should not be here, 4 short years ago they won the conference, then barely bowl eligible 3 years ago, then its just keeps getting worse. Coaching change is a must imo.
13.UNCC- 1 win, not a bad one at that, several close losses. I don't know if a coaching change is warranted yet, if improvement is made then no, BUT the guy has had time to recruit his D1 players and the fruits just aren't there. Competitive mostly, yes, but winning, no.
14. UTEP-Another one that should not be here, but 0-7 and not even being competitive wins you the last spot. Mike Price is not the answer, he had a few nice years many moons ago, but was let go for a reason, so I hope yall don't keep him for the long haul. Too much going for you in support, yes while winning you guys would lead this conference in fan support, seen it for myself years ago.
My take, obviously this conference is fluid this year......so far. A few more weeks will cement who is where.
