It will be a rocky tune up non conference but the team will jell and be a pleasant surprise once the conference play begins. Also expect a more exciting style of play on offense and the same 2-3 zone which some of the newcomers will struggle with out of the gate but catch on mid season.

We haven't talked about the women's team which won six games last season, there's no where to go but up. I have a modest goal for them for low double digit win total and hopefully hitting .500 overall in the 3rd year of the rebuild project.

I agree with your statements on the men's team.

We will be totally under the radar for those not familiar with Minnie, Jackson, Harris and Groce. That is a lot of new talent mostly with quality D-I experience.

And I agree on the offense. Jackson will run and pass and not dribble and hoist the trey.
It's too early for any of us to predict the outcome. Typically we've underachieved. I hope that we can win 10games in the conference but WMU and BSU will be tough to beat. I would guess we finish 2 games under 0.500 in Conference (I hope I'm wrong)
.... but did you play basketball in high school......?
I’m kidding.
Here’s to hoping for double digit win totals in conference.

Luckey is our resident skeptic.

I think this is the year to take a flyer and say this team does not have the systemic weaknesses of Murphy's other teams.

I'm more than willing to be optimistic.

Let's hope. We need a hometown hero.

What has me fascinated is Terry Harris' brother, Tobias.

It would be nice if the Pistons are home standing and if Tobias and a few Pistons could come to game.

Don't know if there are any issues with them signing autographs, etc. in the atrium, etc.
but it would be nice.

Wouldn't it be nice if they don't have practice, if Tobias and teammates could come for the Education Day game early Nov 10. 03-cloud9

Tobias was at Crash the Convo.

I both agree and disagree. I think Elijah Minnie is prerty much a known quantity as a transfer. Add to that the best players from the last couple years in JT4 and Bond. And that is actually a tremendous nucleus that we are well aware of.

But where I agree with you, no one knows how good/bad the guards will be. Not the transfers Jackson and Harris. Not the freshman Ellison, Silver, and McAdo. Are any of these guys legit MAC level starters???

Will Transfers Groce and Greene be solid as badly needed backups in the front court.

I agree with Ramy. Some of the transfers are known quantities. I had heard really good things about Minnie.

Just because we have been out of season for over 6 months doesn't mean the world stopped.

My guess is that in 3 or 4 months the MAC will be wondering where Minnie came from.

Book it: Minnie, JT4, and Bond (easily) best front court in the MAC for 2017/8.

I've seen Ellison and McaDoo play in highschool and there's no doubt in my mind both of these players are bonafide MAC talent. The unknown factor, is how badly do they want to be great College Basketball Players. Even the MAC has slipped in stature from the 90s, it is still a pretty darn good Conference. If McAdoo and Ellison don't play much, it's a good sign about the talent level on the roster. I believe both players have a some upside and make solid contributions at the end of this season. Tariq Silver to me is an unknown but his video highlights show glimpses of athleticism to play at this level too.

Our biggest concerns will be outside shooting and rebounding.

I agree more on the outside shooting than rebounding. I'm still concerned about minutes behind JT4.

We might have the best starting 5 in the MAC with Jackson (1), Harris (2), Bond (3), JT4 (5), and Minnie (4).

I'm fine with Nobles and Groce up front as players off the bench. Backcourt depth - TBD.

As you indicate, frosh are frosh until they prove otherwise.

Harder for us as fans to know are issues like chemistry, leadership, etc.
