It very much depends on your perspective. Granted, it was a fantastic finish for USM. You guys had the grit to pull it off. I'm hoping that our young team will find that grit soon.

It was a perfect storm ending for Southern Miss to win. If that onside kick isn't tipped and we recover, even our pathetic offense can run down enough clock to ice it away.

I bet, if you're LaTech, you do not see the magic in this.

Yeah, well, our young team (with our soph 2nd team QB/2nd team RB, and Frosh all over the OL) pushed La Tech all over the field throughout the game, so it was hardly "luck" that we finally cashed in late (you guys easily forgot we fumbled on the 1 yard line).

Now, did everyone at home think the game was over with 1:30 left? Of course, BUT OUR TEAM DID NOT.

So sorry 04-cheers

Yes we need to get some grit. Some need to take a complement and congratulations with a bit of grace like another thread on the subject. Sorry if I offended your delicate sensibilities as I didn't intend to do that.

If you are referring to me, my sensibilities are quite, should I say, sensible 04-cheers and I was certainly not offended. Just sayin' whoever lost was gonna feel like they gave the game away...

Good Night and Good Luck amigo!

We got so freaking lucky. John Milton said "Luck is the residue of design", and while the stats were one-sided, we assed around so much that it took a miracle to win. We are so close to being really good, and yet so far.

No doubt! When we hit 0-12 and the following years, we seemed to be on everybody's highlights. I told my friends after that 0-12 year that whoever had to find highlights for our videos that year was the hardest working person on campus. There weren't many.

I'm not comparing that to your current team but agreeing with your point. Y'all have a lot of talent on the field and we were fortunate to have the ball bounce our way a few times for that comeback.

It was a crazy game. No way USM should have fumbled at the goal line like they did. That would have been the go ahead touchdown, instead we find a way to move the ball all the way down the field and extend the lead. Then we feel pretty good up 11 with 1:30 left. USM kicks and recovers the onside kick and pushes it to overtime. We throw a pic in OT and I assume the game is now over as all USM has to do is kick the field goal. Then USM throws a pic??!?!? What the actual hell?
I'm still recovering from all of the craziness from this game.

Congrats on the win USM. You deserved it.

I threw a beer across the room when we threw that pick in OT. Like you said, "What the Hell?" Just run, run, run, kick winning FG.

Turns out there was a run play sent in from the coaches. The qb took it on his own to throw that pass. He showed he could overcome it though by throwing the winning td pass in the next OT. Coach Hopson said that won't happen again. Our defense just swarmed Smith in the next OT to win the game.

I think it was the year after the 0-12 when we were around 0-6 or 0-7 the tv announcers made a comment along those lines. I think their comment was "USM SID (sports info director) has to have one of the hardest jobs trying to come up with so many positives in his media releases in the midst of this losing streak."
