Glad you got that monkey off your back. Talk about a guy who won't coach at this level again...

I like how Ga Southern fans made themselves known on this and never let up. A few other fan bases could take notes if they ever want something better to represent them.

So when does your AD admit his regret for saying GS fans were "disillusioned by success?"

Both Summers and Satterfield were 5-13 in their first 18 games as head coach.

That's great! He can point to it when he's looking for another job.

However there was clear regression in our team’s discipline and performance where as with App there was obvious progress that was building momentum. Our trainwreck was only getting worse

I just hope they don't get Mike Houston. I feel like he'll get nabbed by someone like ECU anyways though

I know your heart is in the right place but I think the GS fans have been very patient, maybe too patient. They were nice, polite, and wrote friendly posts to rid themselves of this awful coach. And they have displayed the same nice attitude towards their AD. Most schools in a similar situtation would have been ugly and possibly destructive in their desire to rid themselves of this two headed monster. Regardless, I am happy for GS and wish them a quick return to a position in the uppre tier of the conference. The SBC needs it and we are all better for their return to the top half of the league.

Satterfield's next three games were against teams that were 1-5, 1-7 and 3-5 with 2 at home. Even a pessimist should have been ready to concede that the Mountaineers could win two of those plus the looming Idaho closer and get to at least four. And it was asterisk season moving to FBS.

Georgia Southern faces 5-2, 3-3, 5-2 in the next three games with the two 5-2 teams on the road. The next three are 3-4, 3-4 and 1-6 with only the first 3-4 at home.

The Eagles are three years removed (almost) from winning the league.

Very different set of circumstances.

Satterfield did a helluva job (but he's a helluva coach) Summers faced far longer odds salvaging something this year to give anyone optimism going into 2018.

I told you this was coming. I did think we would wait til end of the year. We came very close to firing Summers after last year. There is no damn excuse for the way we have played this year. Embarrassing to say the least. I m not sure our AD will survive this either but he lowered the heat by canning Summers

Why in the world would Ga Southern want Mark Speir? He's 25-40 in 5 1/2 years at WCU.

Or App for that matter, he has stabilized a dumpster fire at WCU but hasn't exactly gone anywhere since.

Never said either program should get him. I was more interested in knowing the App State-affiliated head coach count for the sunbelt next year.

I would be fine with hiring him, though we would probably have to hit the transfer market to find a suitable QB (not always the most reliable place).

This is my wish list (in order).

1. Mike Houston
6. Brent Thompson
2. Mike Ayers - No, too old
3. Mark Speir - Why?
4. Brian Bohannon - Maybe #6 or #7
5. Jamey Chadwell - not leaving Coastal

My short list.

Good work. I hope you guys pay who ever you get at least $400k. You need it to acquire and keep a good coach and with this number, you can give increases as warranted. Perhaps more than anything else, if the conference is going to grow in football power, we need good coaches and we need to pay them.

My short list.

Doug Ruse hmmmm. stAte fans would do a double take with that. OC for Steve Roberts that took a lot of flack from us. I am not sure he deserved it so much as our HC seemed to be so conservative and put the clamps down. It seems he has done well since he left here.

The exception is when a team has obviously packed it in for the year and I think getting rolled by an 0-6 team is pretty good evidence a team has packed it in.

Congrats to Southern, you guys have a proud history and time to be looking forward to the next chapter. Glad we were able to help out. Both teams need the games results on Saturday. Hoping we can make a respectable showing against App State.

Congrats again to GS.
