Dude has swagger. But I am wondering what HCMH is/has said to him for showboating on the way to the end zone. I can’t imagine he’s too happy with that display. Or is this just a case where the coaches let the player’s show some emotion? Anyone have some insight on this?

As soon as he knew he was going to score, he paced himself and with the shhhhhhh gesture I thought: Uh oh here comes a taunting penalty. The end zone celebration was not overboard, thankfully, no flags.

RE: JFM!
The running play before the WM QB threw a chicken wing elbow after carrying out a play fake at JFM which I’m sure Jimmy took exception to. He didn’t make contact with Jimmy and it was a lazy blocking effort but I don’t think it went unnoticed.

#6 for the tribe was a little too big for his britches so Jimmy was just letting him know the couple first downs that he scrambled for amounted to very little. Dukes D is nasty.

RE: JFM!
The play was right in front of us in Section 119 and as JFM started to showboat a bit I started thinking that the W&M QB was going to catch him. Brought to mind the play in the Steelers/Bears game a few weeks ago where the Bear player picked off Pittsburgh and ran to the endzone and slowed up before crossing the goal line allowing the Steelers player to knock the ball loose and out of the endzone for a touchback!!!! Fortunately JFM was aware of what was going on and ran it into the endzone for the score.

Think HCMH might have a word or two with Jimmy about the play. Can not help but think of the scene from the movie Major League where the center fielder Willy Mays Hayes makes a great over the shoulder basket catch to end the inning and comes running into the dugout. The manager takes one look at him and says "Great catch!!. Don't ever f****** do that again!!" Figure JFM and HCMH might have a similar conversation.

Great play though!!!

Brian

RE: JFM!
totally expected a flag there. I'm glad we didn't get one, but JFM probably should have gotten one.

Can you get a flag for taunting DURING the play?

Yes, and it would have negated the TD had it happened. Very lucky the refs were in a giving mood there.

RE: JFM!
Would they give W&M the ball back? Where do they spot it? From the spot of the foul? Real interesting call that'd be.

That’s the part we were debating in the stands. I’m guessing spot foul maybe? Happened after change in possession either way.

Edit: Just read further down in article. Says it was a spot foul. 15 from the occurrence.

RE: JFM!
LOL Maybe that's why they didn't want to touch it - they didn't know either.

Hahaha maybe. See my last edit. Spot foul as it turns out.

Sometimes we benefit from the caa refs natural tendency to not call something they should.

Yeah, it would have been JMU ball 15 yards back from the spot of the taunting.

RE: JFM!
I don't think their QB was interested in getting the ball back by the end of that play. I swear I could see steam coming out of the guy's ears and at that point he wanted to break JM in half. If he had caught Jimmy I think he would have done it too.

On one of the special team plays I saw a guy mixing it up with a W&M player (maybe #24?). I could have sworn the cut to a shot of MH jawing him out a few seconds later?

Hcmh was chewing Amos a new one.... Grabbed him by the collar and preceded to educate him.

He said something to JFM, but it was brief.

RE: JFM!
I consider what JM did was like walking on top of a fence leaning to the penalty side but grabbed a tree limb to catch himself just before falling. Not great sportsmanship, but far from spitting in the direction of another man.
