Week 8 SunBelt Power Ranking
1) Ark State (3-0)- dominated ULL. slight edge over Troy due to the Sunbelt record.
2) Troy (2-1)- Offense finally turned up the heat and defense that contained LSU is real.
3) App (4-0)- a win is a win is a win. enough said.
4) South Alabama (2-1)- win against Troy and ULM. Relax Troy fans.....USA isn't better than Troy, but they deserves some praises
5) Georgia State (2-1)- beatdown against Troy. failed the opportunity be an elite SBC team. look for a quick bounce back against USA.
6) ULM (3-2)- tough loss against USA but still a very capable, young team.
7) ULL (2-2)- beatdown against Ark State. much needed bye week to recover from the emotional trauma. Reports indicate that the Special Victims Unit was seen at ULL campus.
8) NMSU (1-2)- decent offense, bad defense. don't think they will be bowling.
9) Idaho (1-2)- trending downward every week. questionable OL won't give Linehan enough time in the pocket
10) CCU (0-4)- nice try CCU against App State *slow claps*
11) TXST (0-3)- bad offense bad defense. It's a mess.
12) The Team That Shall Not be Named From the South (0-2)- blown out by a bad UMass team. different QB, same result. Defense seems to get worse every week.

RE: Week 8 SunBelt Power Ranking
I know we haven't been blowing people out, but we've played a top 5 team in the country as close as anyone sans Notre Dame, barely lost to a 4-2 ACC team, and haven't lost to anyone in conference. Gotta be #2 imo.
1. Ark State
2. App State
3. Troy
4. USA
5. NMSU
6. GSU
7. Idaho
8. ULL
9. ULM
10. CCU
11. TxSt
12. GaSo

I'd go with this.
App keep skating by on teams they should beat by several scores (Texas state, Coastal) the top 3 are easy.

See I don't think the gap between USA and GSU is THAT wide. BOOK IT when we have our Thursday night game next week.
After my initial disgust, I looked over the team stats.
1st down- Troy 20 GSU 16
yards- Troy 450 GSU 300
turnover- Troy 1 GSU 1
Time of Possession- Troy 27mins GSU 33mins
This seems to prove that GSU played didn't finish drives in the redzone. Troy absolutely won the game dominantly, no arguments there. My respect to the Troy team. Troy players were absolute beasts. But if we didn't leave points on the field, it should've been 34-21 ish score...not 34-10.
Troy played a complete, disciplined, perfect football. GSU played uninspiring, flat, sloppy football. I don't think we played the best of our abilities (they believed in their 3-0 hype and played like asses). I think USA game will be different. Panthers will be hungry and chippy

I can't justify NMSU above ULM and GSU. they find ways to lose. they are anti-app state. That close win over Georgia Southern doesn't look so great now.

ULM might not win another game. Our Defense with injuries is very very bad. It’s just too much for us to overcome. Caleb Evans also isn’t consistent. Not that it’s on him but if he isn’t on it’s over.

3. App
Not even worth trying to sort out the rest, it changes on a weekly basis

Get pressure on NMSU's QB and Ark St wins by 17. Hoping the line is 13 or lower, free money.

I think South is ahead of them right now, primarily because South is better defensively.
NMSU is hard to figure out. Are we going to see the NMSU team that should have won in Boone and almost beat Troy, or are we going to get the team that struggled to put Georgia Southern away? If we can get consistent pressure on Tyler Rodgers we can force him into mistakes, and make it easier on ourselves.

A lot of that came from the 3 weeks of far away games, plus no bye week until week 8. I think a well rested NMSU team will surprised some people.
