This was embarrassing and one of the worst I've witnessed as a fan, and that's including the entire **** show that's been uab football for 15+ years. That being said, we only have to go 2-3 in a very easy schedule to get to a bowl. I think we can do it.

We have only scored 13 2nd half points over the last 3 games COMBINED. Our offense needs help!

If anybody remotely believes that the defense has been an issue outside of Ball state and Early vs NT, they've been watching a totally different team this season. Koennings play calling is pathetic. So is special teams. The talents there on offense. There's a reason Koenning hasn't been allowed to call plays elsewhere.

Defense has been stout for the most part. Many times they're working with a 60 yd field or smaller all damn game.

I understand offense has had a long field to work with much of the time as well. First off, you don't pass out of your own damn redzone. Run the ball, runs the clock, gives defense a rest at least. Then open up after you've put some space behind you.

All Koenning could draw up to get out of our offense was:
7 pts in 2nd half vs LT
3 pts in 2nd half vs MTSU
3 pts in 2nd half tonight

I'd make Coach K use a rental car to get back to Birmingham.

As soon as we crossed midfield on that last drive in regulation, it should’ve been a steady dose of runs until the clock ran out or we got into FG range.

This is the biggest blunder of all. No excuse for what was done there.

So the defensive line losing contain of the QB had nothing to do with them picking up a first down at the one in overtime? Falling for a fake to give up a two point conversation was the offenses fault. There are a comedy of errors everywhere and the blame goes to the coaches and players for not cleaning up the mistakes. Either way, more loses shouldn't surprise as this team can't become elite overnight. They better keep working and respond to this loss like they have done before. These coaches need to get it together, because they should know what and who can make this team go by now. Sometimes it feels like they are still experimenting with things. I just want us to finally blow someone out. Tired of these close games.

Anytime you hold somebody to 17 points in regulation, the defense is doing their job........especially when all the offense does is punt (TEN drives with no points last night, 8 ended with punts, 2 ended with fumbles). jheath43 was right, Koenning is terrible, and the sooner he is gone, the better.

Yep. I don't give the defense a complete pass, especially towards the end, but they did their job for the most part.

Right. Show me another coach with less talent on defense, getting the same results we are getting. A lot of former walk ons and UAB offer only players on our 1&2 defense. That's coaching. We are in these games thanks to the defense. defense won't hold up forever and when they finally do break, it's their fault? Offense is giving them a whole 4 points per 2nd half over last 3 games to work with.

The offense is worse than watching paint dry. The most creative play call we had all night was the first TD to the TE. A little play action and a shot down the field to a wide open receiver. Our inability to go down field with the ball really hurts us in the run game.

A typical drive for us goes like this:

Run up the middle (out of the diamond formation)
Zone read (QB keeper)
Run up the middle
Punt

We had 10 drives that resulted in no points. 8 punts and 2 fumbles. You can't even beat an 0-7 team playing like that.

Well better they do it here than in the Facebook pages with coaches and players families.

Gumps would be proud. Lol.

Guys - back away from the ledge... Calm down. We were finished to pick dead last in the country... we won some games that we were not expected to win and lost to a team WE SHOULD HAVE BEATEN but this team is still coming together. We are all frustrated - I get it but let's step away from the ledge and have a proper perspective.

Ever faithful... Ever loyal...

Anybody who is losing their mind after this game hasn't been paying attention to what we've done this season. Clark will get things under control, but we are still in the middle of a rebuild at this point. I do think an oc change is necessary though.

RE: UAB vs Charlotte Thread
That was a very frustrating loss. Defense played well for the most part, but just got tired at the end from being on the field the whole 2nd half. The only gripe I have on D is why continue to blitz? All it is does is make the QB start running which is his bread and butter. He's a questionable passer at best so just sit in coverage, play containment with the DE's, and have one linebacker as a spy.

Our offensive playcalling is a baffling. I'm starting to think Coach K needs to go. Brown was struggling, but we still weren't committed enough to the run. Noble got 1 carry all night and it went for 20+ yards. We need more of the thunder/lightning combo in the run game instead of wearing down Brown. After we crossed mid-field on the last drive, we should have just run the ball until we were either in field goal range or the clock ran out.

Now we've put ourselves in a much tougher situation as far as getting a bowl bid. The last two home games we SHOULD win, but they now become must wins. It would be nice to steal one of these road games, but our play on the road thus far makes them seem very unlikely.

How about that leaping penalty they called in the 3rd quarter? It was correct, but you seriously never see that actually called. Instead of getting 3 points, they score a TD two plays later. Big swing in the game. Also if we don't push our own guy into the our punt returner they never even have the ball for that possession. We should've had the ball up 17-0.

It is always called when you fall on top of another player which our guy did. Easy flag to throw there.
