Semi-OT: Awful high school football teams
I don't keep up on my old high school team in St. Louis very much since they usually stink and I don't keep in touch with very many people back there, but when browsing the STL Post-Dispatch high school sports site for playoff results I came across another area team:

http://stats.stlhighschoolsports.com/spo...=155&s=708

0-10 is bad enough, but how the hell do you get outscored 29-435 over a season? I feel bad for them too, this school at one time was a solid program, if you look at the archives they went 10-2 in 2011 and finished above .500 a few years ago. Anyone have any worse teams that they went to or played against?

Semi-OT: Awful high school football teams
My old high school won 11 games in a ten year period back in the 80s, they got re classified with schools their own size and have been competitive since.

Jeff Davis HS in Houston (recently renamed Northside HS) lost 80 in a row from the mid 80s to mid 90s. And if you read the article, I'm pretty sure (but not 100%) they didn't go unbeaten in 2008 and lost in the first round of the playoffs. They weren't in our district. Lincoln HS was and they were awful in the final years before they closed the school in late 70s, but couldn't find any links on them.

Here's a pretty interesting story from Bleacher Report (of all places) about a HS team in a really small town in Missouri stuck playing teams from bigger towns and they repeatedly get whomped. This article is right after they lost 102-0.

It's not cool to make fun of 15-year old kids when they play a sport poorly.

When my daughter was in high school, their team ran up 100 points on a hapless opponent. Their all-state tailback scored the TD that put them over the top late in the fourth quarter.

The coach was fired that night. Not the losing coach - the winning one.

Why was the all-state RB still in the game? Unless they scored 100 in the first half, they probably should have had the JV team play the majority of the game. Doesn't mean I agree with the firing; just looking for more information on the mindset.

He was put back in the game in the fourth quarter because the coach really wanted to crack the 100 point mark. He was beside himself on the sideline when they did it. Needless to say, the Principal, who was also in attendance, was less thrilled about the lack of sportsmanship.

Some schools can't compete. Here in Houston, the inner cits schools can't while the single unified suburban schools are hard to stop.

I played for a Catholic football factory, but after I left the diocese discovered that the building was shot through with asbestos* and had to be replaced. They instead pimped this as a totally voluntary move to a new suburban site (the lie became obvious when no one would buy the old school despite it sitting on primo commercial ground). To pay for that, they ditched the $50-a-year fee for RC kids and basically converted to a rich kids' private school. The rivals became the other suburbs and the parking lot filled with new late-model SUVs (you could tell which one was the faculty lot, that was the one with the beat-up pieces of crap). And once the roster changed from ethnic Catholic and black kids to guys with last names for first names, they lost 37 straight.

I laughed.

*I have no data but cancer, esp. female-type cancers (breast, ovarian etc.), seems way above the norm in my old classmates.
