In Britain they have a problem at household level. The homes don't have enough capacity to do other things while the car is charging.

Britain - Charging an electric car at the time as boiling your kettle will blow your fuse

If each home has enough power, then you have to have enough power coming into each neighborhood. Then back out to each larger piece of the grid.

You can't just ignore all this. This is just the stuff needed for normal operations.

Imagine Puerto Rico today if all the cars had been electric. The reliability of the electric grid would have to be increased dramatically for an all-electric-car society.

On the plus side, the real advantage of the electric cars is they are mechanically simple. Lots of car parts simply disappear once you remove the combustion engine. The cars get simpler, lighter, and more reliable. They are going to be cheaper for the end user.

The required infrastructure is going to be much more expensive than most people realize. That means new taxes on power and electric vehicle licensing. Tennessee is already charging a $100 surcharge to license an all-electric vehicle.

I think electric cars will be heavier because of the batteries. And removing mechanical parts is correct that it will make them simpler but you will be adding a lot of controls and computer logic that is complicated.

Another challenge is the mining of lithium. And on that topic, the largest deposits of lithium is in Afghanistan of all places.

Ohio Poly, why are you harping on a point that has nothing to do with what anyone else is saying? Instead, why not address things being discussed? How do we handle the grid issues regardless of the fuel source?
