A bad game. Rendle's minutes go down each game. Boggs has been fouling too much and missing a lot of foul shots. Unfortunately, there is no one else to pick up the slack. Hopefully this team will get it figured out soon.

Big game against Towson on Sunday.

JMU is the class of the league and is undefeated in the CAA...we are not at their level yet.

All true -- but JMU was also the class of the league the last two years (even last year although Elon won the CAAT) and W&M beat JMU one time each of those years.

I didn't expect the Tribe to win yesterday but I certainly did expect a better showing. I'm sure the coaches did, too. We'll see if the team feeds off this embarrassment when they go to Harrisonburg.

Odd statement considering WM has beaten them in each of the last two yrs.

Nice win today, to try to make sure the women end up in the top six and not the bottom four.

Wish I knew what was going on with Abby Rendle. Is she sick? Our announcers two games ago were talking about someone being sick but I didn't hear who it was. We really need her back full strength and playing 28-30 minutes a game in order to have any chance in the tournament.

Nice win for the Tribe today, over Northeastern. Good crowd, too; over 1000+ for the Golden Game.

Abby Rendle had a great game and has had two good games in a row. Victoria Reynolds also had a nice game. Jenna Green became the career leader in assists for the Tribe -- Congratulations Jenna!

Abby also scored her 1000th point in the last game against Delaware -- Congratulations Abby!

RE: Women's Basketball 2017-2018
Aauugghhhhh!!! FRUSTRATION!!

Tribe loses to UNCW, the worst team in the league with only 1 CAA win. They lost by 15!!!!

Tribe was up by 13 early in the second period and then suddenly every wheel fell off the bus. They were down by 2 at the half. UNCW then took about a 10 point lead halfway through the third period but W&M clawed back into it by feeding a steady stream of passes in to Rendle in the post. They cut the lead to about 4 doing that, by the end of the third period.

Then, strangely, to start the 4th period, Garner started jacking up threes and missing them. Why on earth they didn't just continue to feed the ball in to Rendle in the post I cannot understand. I think Abby took only 1 or 2 shots in the 4th period. So the lead ballooned back up to double digits and the Tribe lose an absolute embarrassment of a game.

Boggs at one point was 1-14 from the field (and she missed a few more after that). Reynolds missed 2 or 3 wide open layups. Garner made a few threes but missed a lot more. Jenna Green was off her game and had a lot of turnovers. The only player who had a halfway decent game was Rendle.

Yes, the officiating was terrible and very frustrating for the Tribe players as they watched fouls being called on them at one end but the same plays not being called fouls on the other end. At one point, Rendle was pushed out of bounds by a player going over her back (and, remember, Abby is 6'4") and no foul was called. I am seriously beginning to wonder why the officials have it in for W&M this season in women's basketball. However, bad officiating does not excuse this loss. Tribe should stomp this team no matter what the officials are doing. Go up by 15 or 20 and the officials lose interest in calling fouls against you.

On to Drexel, to try to get revenge for a loss at home earlier in the season where the Tribe led by 10 in the 4th period and somehow managed to let it get away.

RE: Women's Basketball 2017-2018
I see you guys have given up posting about your women's team. And who can blame you? I have very little interest in Drexel's men's team right now. I know it can be frustrating when you team is under performing late in the season.

I do have a question about yesterday's game. I was at the game and I have to say that W&M played a really tough defensive game yesterday and was really making it hard for Drexel to get any offensive flow or many scoring changes. One person who I was following closely was Abby Rendle. I was expecting Abby to have a big game with the huge size advantage over the entire Drexel team. But every time W&M got the ball inside to Abby, she passed it back outside, rather than trying to drive for a basket. My 16 year old daughter was watching her, when I told her that Abby is one of the best in the league, and she could tell that something didn't seem right with Abby. She went to the bench with several minutes left as if she was sick or something, and W&M seemed to concede the game rather early even though the game wasn't entirely out of reach. I just wanted to know if anybody had heard anything and was wondering if she was sick, or injured.

I don't have any insider info but yeah something is up with Rendle. She's had some sort of lingering issue the last few weeks

Whoa - I fail to post on one game and somebody notices -- that's life!!

Yes, it is super frustrating watching the Tribe women right now. What started out as a really auspicious season (see the first post in this thread) has basically flushed itself into oblivion.

Yes, I saw the inside-out play of Rendle in that game, too. I couldn't figure it out except that Drexel's quick hands had blocked or knocked the ball out of Abby's hands several times and maybe she got gunshy. Part of it, too, is that the other players don't always pass her the ball even when she is calling for it.

Re Abby being sick --- I thought she was sick from about 6 games ago to about 3 games ago because her production was way down and so were her minutes. However, she played really well in the two games prior to the Drexel game so I thought that at last she was back. I don't know if she was sick in the Drexel game but didn't she play more than 30 minutes?

She just looked slow running down the court...maybe she's slow to begin with. I know that even the best players have bad games, but from what I saw, I was just curious if it was more than just a bad game. Since WBB doesn't get very much media coverage, it's tough for those of us who follow our teams closely to get the inside scoop on what's really going on out there. Going to message boards and asking other fans seems like my only option.

She is always slow running up the court. I think she has only that one speed.

When Abby is "on" she is really, really good --- 8-10 blocks, 14-18 points, 7-10 rebounds. But when she is off (or not getting the ball from her teammates) then you can cut those numbers in half or even more. I have not been successful predicting in advance which games she will be on and which she will be off.

I am really, really, REALLY hoping that she is "on" for the CAA tournament.

RE: Women's Basketball 2017-2018
Rendle got at least one touch in the paint in almost every half court W&M possession. The reason she was kicking it back out was because Drexel would double her immediately after she caught the ball. W&M was not taking advantage of the rotated defense by moving the ball quickly enough to be effective, and making open shots.

Someone can check my math, but I believe we are locked into the 6 seed. At least we're avoiding the play-in games

RE: Women's Basketball 2017-2018
We will get this same Elon team again in the 3-6 game. We beat them earlier in the year but just got hammered by 20 today. I knew it would be a long night when the Tribe picked up 3 (yes, 3) ticky-tack fouls in the very first minute, very first possession for Elon.

Many posters have commented on how W&M does not do a great job on halftime presentations. For example, for Bill Chambers' event, they had a hodgepodge of about 30 people on the court and you couldn't tell who was who. I watched a Tribe Women's event earlier this year on CAA TV and it sounded like the public address man was actually announcing individual names but, unfortunately, the CAA TV announcer (Andrew whatshisname) was babbling nonstop over it and I couldn't hear any of the names (note to novice announcer: know when to shut up). So today Elon had a nice presentation to mark the closure of their 68 year old gym and not only did the PA announcer talk about each attendee individually but the CAA TV announcers actually shut up and didn't say a word so the TV audience could take it all in. So, nice job, Elon!
