Brilliant!

Same crew that wanted to replace our QB at halftime if 'he continues to play so poorly'....

Just to point out, I thought that was ridiculous to want to replace the QB. But hey, if you think we have had good defense all season long, then I want to smoke some of what you are smoking. I mean, we only gave up 38 points, I am sure that ties us for first place in the best defense in the history of football.

Where did I say we have a good defense? I've been complaining about them all year. But I also understand that we are badly depleted so for them to play as well as they have in the last two games is just about miraculous. Also, I don't think you pin the defense on coaches who don't really have a say in recruiting when the head coach is an ex OC and offense oriented. He needs to focus more on recruiting defensive players next year for sure although Carter and Hall were excellent signings. I also think the DC drew up a defensive scheme for Navy that was nothing short of brilliant.

And I quit smoking the ganja long ago.

yeah same here...but some of these guys otter mellow out.

They yell at each other about who is the most negative.
lol.

I could have used a big fat hoogar tonight to calm me down!

One of the most ridiculous comments from a supposed fan I have read on this site! The defense makes timely plays. Plays which have directly resulted in wins; UCLA, Navy, UCONN(2nd half) and now Houston. Often “fans” make comments about these coaches livelihood like it’s a video game. “Replace the coaches, they aren’t human with families” Ridiculous!

These young men are not Pro ballers. These are amateur players “learning” how to play. The learning curve and margin for error is different than for Pro players. This is a University where you go to increase your skill and knowledge. Norvell and his staff have given us an exciting and winning team. Working and teaching.

What about the many injuries we have had on defense and still winning? Have you been paying attention? You can’t just bring in a “free agent” to replace injured players.

I was enjoying the win until I read this goofy comment.

I wonder if he likes being called that? I doubt it.

Just keep in mind this is the same guy who thought Larry Porter was the greatest coach in the history of the NCAA and took a few year hiatus to support Middle Tennessee State because we fired Larry "the greatest coach in the history of the NCAA" Porter.

Wow. I didn’t know that.

Probably because what he stated is not true. His timeline is off quite a bit but he is right about me going to the MTSU/Marshall game tonight.

Just recently, at a material store, there was a father of a player on the team talking about how bad the defense was and I even defended them to him, but when every single game it becomes a shoot-out, it becomes harder and harder to defend, but OK. To all of you, OUR DEFENSE IS THE GREATEST DEFENSE EVER AND NO TEAM WILL EVER HAVE A DEFENSE AS GOOD AS OURS!!!!!!! Sorry I made this thread, I apologize to everyone especially our number 1 defense in the history of the world.

C’mon now. Don’t let these folks intimidate you, don’t waffle now. Be a man. Stick to your guns.

Our defense is gassed , some who were going to be backups are starters and our offense is on and off the field in two minutes sometimes . After the Navy game we looked really good , but a short week and Houston controlling the ball really hurt .07-coffee3

I am beyond thrilled we won this game. And I know we played during a short week, and the offense didn't help last night. And the defense does tend to make big plays when they count. But if the halfway-decent teams don't turn the ball over against us, they normally score.

With our lack of depth, injuries, and youth...it's actually quite amazing the job our defense and defensive coaches are doing.

I will agree with this. I get down on the D but they don't have a lot of arrows in the quiver and are doing a good job with what they have. They have risen to the occasion several times.

Exactly. We had a couple of pretty good drives going and then we got cute with play calling and killed them. It's not rocket science. If you are slashing the defense for 8 yards a play there is no since in running a wild cat and putting Riley at Wide Receiver. If passes over the middle are working then you stay with it. Thankfully we figured that out in the 2nd half.
They were selling out and overpowering our offensive line and we were still rolling out, taking deep drops and running extremely slow developing read run plays throughout the first half.

I agree with this. Plus they seem to make big plays late in close games. It’s a different game now. Way better imo than the old era of Tiger football when we’d lose 10-7!

So you are saying we have a good defense?

Good enough to win

Yep, you are right. Offense just needs to score 42 points to ensure it.

And not lay the ******* ball on the ground andget a few first downs in the first half or maybe a score or two.

When I was a kid we used to golf and the loser of each hole had to drink a beer. If you lost the first 3 holes there was a good chance you were going to drink 12-15 beers.

That is how it is with our defense. If we are going to go the entire 1st quarter with 3-5 minutes of possession every game, our defense is always going to be gassed and is always going to struggle as the game goes along.

If were are scoring 10 and 0 points in the first half, with multiple 3 and outs and turnovers, there is no way our defense is going to be able to hang in there. We are so thin as it is.

Our two 3rd down plays at the 40 on what should have been scoring drives were that wildcat mess and a sack.

yeah so I don't know Football---noobie fan. But reckon I know players who are givin' it their all when I see them.

I wouldn't trade our D for anybody's...ain't being hyperbolic either.

Our D is inexperienced. They have watched their brothahs fall in possibly career ending fashion. They have been penalized unfairly for targetting.

They hang in better than anything I've ever seen.

Offense can't stay on the field for **** even when they score. But our D goes right back out there...makes big plays.
