Isn’t that low by recent standards (before our team fell apart)? If I recall we had multiple 5 Star and blue chip recruits.

Tennis Recruiting (TR) only updates their Star ratings 2x per year, in the Spring and Fall. This methodology (updating Stars only twice a year) limits the Star-rating accuracy of any particular recruit where performance is dynamic and many recruits are trending either up or down due to a myriad of reasons, including injuries. For example, if Star ratings were updated monthly, this recruit would be assigned a 5-Star rating by now because the last national tournament he played at Stanford (during TR's limited rating period window) was not counted even though it bumped him back up to #66 in the class just a week later after the TR Fall rating window closed (the cut off for 5-Star rating is #75). This recruit has also consistently been rated a 5-Star and ranked in the top 50 in his graduating class for most of his junior career, and has even had highs over his high school career where he was near Blue Chip status. It's worth noting that in the last few years, the Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) is becoming increasingly recognized as a more accurate reflection of the competitive "strength" of a player at any point in time. UTR, by the way, updates their "strength scores" weekly. This recruit has a UTR of 12.7, which is strong. It is also a fact that this recruit had 6 other firm offers to join solid tennis programs in California, Texas and Arizona, including a PAC-12 program, and programs that have consistently been ranked in the Top 50 and even Top 10 in the year-end NCAA standings. He chose Rice, however, because of its impeccable academics, the fantastic coaches, great guys on the current team, the program's commitment to excellence, and a relentless desire to compete at the NCAA Championships.

Thanks for the insight into Tennis recruit ratings and glad to hear Rice is making a positive impact! Sounds like we need signing day to get here as soon as possible to lock him into Rice

RE: Tennis recruiting
Good stuff. Thanks for the insight into recruiting, I really only check once a year or so unlike basketball and football. Tennis is a sport I believe we should dominate CUSA in even though this might be a rough year.
