With fewer OOC games available why play a good non-power team when you can pay the cannon fodder of the world and your excuse is our conference schedule is already hard. Sound familiar? Certain leagues have already been suggesting their coaches not play the good non-power teams anyway. Oh and good luck getting one to come to your place after this.

No they won't break away, they will think they are making the tourney better when in reality people like me will simply stop watching.

We are also getting slowly kicked out of the NIT in case anyone hasn't noticed. Better get used to the CIT and CBI and any other thing that pops up.

I quit watching the NCAA basketball tournament last year. I honestly didn't miss it. Unless UAB is playing, I don't have any plans to watch any games in the tournament this year. I also only watch televised UAB games too. I haven't watched a regular season non UAB game in over 3 years.

Same here. Don't watch non-UAB games in basketball & watch very very few non-UAB games in football & certainly no P5 games.

The overly greedy big schools and TV networks are ruining college athletics.

If they want to add more teams the simplest solution is expanding the damn tournament. Put basic rules in place so 14-17 teams can't make it and you get more eyeballs and interest while still protecting your wonderful p5 top 32 seeds. Removing the G5 schools from the schedule is not going to accomplish what they think it will. RPI numbers are going to be all out of whack because teams won't load up on 6-10 easy non conference games.

They're going to make it essentially impossible to compete and ruin college basketball.

The american conference is in the same boat. They are not a P5 conference.

No but with Wichita, Cinci, UCONN, Memphis, and Temple you've got MUCH stronger programs that can command at large bids. Plus SMU that's done well in recent years.

So joining the American could take us from a 1 bid league to a 2-3 bid league and give us a lot better basketball games to watch at Bartow.

Wouldn't mind if cusa went to 20 conference games. At most looking at this year's schedule it would cut the two D2 schools, and with a preseason tourney leave around eight games in the OOC. Three of the eight games maybe being away games at P5 schools, the other five home games against whomever.

This could easily backfire on the P5 leagues hopes of getting some bottom feeders into the tourney. While a P5 20 games schedule gives the bottom feeders more opportunities to increase their RPI and possible victories, it could also result in these same bottom feeders getting even fewer wins with even more blowouts. For example, Duke, who might play and blowout Rutgers once a year will now do it twice a year. Rutgers, who may have gotten an extra win in the non-conference schedule actually gets an extra loss (or two, or three, ...).

It most definitely will.

Those who benefit most from the present system don't want it to change. As long as the NCAA is dominated by such powers, the rest of the schools will continue to suffer from the present unfair set up. Only after dozens of "have not" schools are run out of the sport will someone notice a real need to change, but the "haves" will still fight for the status quo..
