Bowling Green Game
NIU vs BG this week in the last Saturday game of the year. BG has one of the worst defenses in FBS. If the offense is going to get rolling, this would be the week to do it.

RE: Bowling Green Game
Going to have to ground and pound and rely on the O line to win the game. I am pretty down on Childers throwing ability but hopefully he will begin proving me wrong this weekend. It would be nice to see him complete some throws downfield and begin building his confidence.

Again, we could not have 3 better consecutive games for Childers to get his baptism; Bowling Green is the weakest of the bunch. I think Childers will make positive strides this week. If Graham is able to go, it may be wise to get him some reps at some point during the game. He is Carey's 2nd (perhaps even 1st choice); he needs the reps to shake the rust off.

While BG's defense has been getting shredded, it seems they actually do a good job creating turnovers. They are currently #9 in FBS in turnovers gained so once again NIU will need to protect the football.

When your defense is that bad, that's usually more luck than anything else.

RE: Bowling Green Game
Looks like BG is rolling with a similar squad to last season. The QB is a young pocket passer but inconsistent and they have one pretty good WR. The best RB appears to be a freshman that NIU actually recruited as well. He had a really nice game against Ohio last week. NIU's D is considerably better than last year so should be able to contain the BG offense unless the offense turns the ball over and puts them in bad spots. BG leads the nation in fumble recoveries and has a great punter. NIU should be able to win this by multiple scores if the offense can finish drives and limit the turnovers.

NIU should win this one.
Maybe the easiest conference game on the schedule.

Or your opponent is so far ahead, they play a lot of inexperienced players that turn the FB over.

I think just the opposite, this is the week you have to air it out to get Childers more comfortable. If NIU has any shot of staying within 3 scores of Toledo, the passing game has to be about 3X better than it has been the past 4 weeks.

RE: Bowling Green Game
This is the week you have to take Bowling Green behind the woodshed, and give them a hell of a pounding...THE HARD WAY (sexual pun intended).

In all honesty, I would love to see NIU control this game with the classic Huskie ground and pound. Rely on the big O line to step up and play well in the run-game this week. Sustain long drives ending with points. Speed up the tempo on a few drives and some quick hitters by Childers. Defense plays stout and strong. Perhaps giving up a TD or two. But NIU wins 34-14.

Go Huskies!!

RE: Bowling Green Game
This is the game where how you win is almost as important as the win itself. If NIU gets by with pounding it on the ground and coming off with a 1 dimensional attack, sure its a W, but it spells almost an automatic L @ Toledo. Toledo has to, absolutely has to be, part of the game plan in this game vs BGSU, you have to have a passing game to beat Toledo, or least stay within 20 points.

Winds should not be a factor. Gusts probably in 10 to 15 mph range and mild mid 70s

Next year, I may drive to a couple away games just so I don't forget what it's like to play on a Saturday.

Bowling Green is a trap game. Don’t let their 1-6 record fool you. They pretty much always plays us close. If the offense doesn’t get going early their could be problems.

Didn’t “we” beat them by like 40 last year?

There’s no easy W’s in the MAC when you can’t score. Lol
