Just enjoy the ride, and don't get wrapped up in the "He's staying, his wife loves it here, we can match the money" crap. He isn't, she doesn't, you can't.
Hopefully you can at least get an NY6 bowl out of the deal. You're in the driver's seat right now.

Unless White leaves, I am going to wait to see who he picks. He has done a great job of seeing coaching talent. if the season keeps going as planned, it won't be hard to find a replacement.

Maybe I'm completely naive... but I just don't see him leaving after year 2 here, unless a truly awesome position opens up (Texas for Herman for instance is one of those types of jobs). He won't be here for forever... but I see him being selective with where he goes next. If say, Florida or FSU opens up for instance... he gone lol. But I see I'm wanting to stay real close to the FL recruiting pool.

I hope that we start fresh like Memphis did instead of promoting like you did.

He deserves everything he gets if he goes to Purdue or Wake. People make bad decisions in life.

RE: Houston Fans I know how you felt Last Season w Herman
He is going to Nebraska, he is an alumnus and they got Big10 money. They are goin' to fire the hell out of that coach this year.
I really do feel for you UCF. In all sincerity. This is the place everyone looks for a coach if you are a traditional power or upper-level P5 program. The P6 moniker ain't gonna save your coach.
It pisses me off. Everyone, except for Niamatalolo, is with a coach that has been at the school 3 years or less. This is ridiculous. Houston - Herman, UCF - Frost, USF - Taggart, Memphis - Fuente, UConn - Diaco (but for good reason), Tulane - Fritz (he gone soon too), Tulsa - Montgomery (would have been gone if they didn't suck. I'm bitter, okay!), ECU - dead man walking, Temple - Rhule, SMU - Morris is gonna be gone this year to aTm, Cincy - Tubbs (for really damn good reason).
This much turnover is terrible for a conference.

I'm a firm believer that Boise State never would have become what they became if they didn't have coach stability all that time. Look what happened when Washington finally poached their coach........they are a shell of their former self.

However, where Herman killed us the most is not only did he flee to Austin, he took a handful of our best recruits with him. Kids he spent UH money on to recruit. He's a scumbag.
If Frost leaves, I hope he leaves with a bit more honor.
Most of us in the AAC have felt the same pain; Memphis has twice - once in hoops, the other in FB. Soon to be three times likely, but who knows if this year or next.

I bet Rhule is second guessing his move at the moment.

Nebraska folks are talking about Frost, but I don't think he is a good fit there. They don't get those kinds of athletes. Now either Navy or Army coach, or Tulane run a system Nebraska couDL recruit to.
Agreed. I think it would be a very risky career move to go there and he's still very young. If it doesn't work out he ends up at some WAC school the rest of his career.
This whole situation though is why I kind of understand the attendance trend.

There's nothing risky about cashing a lottery ticket. He'll make $5m a year at Nebraska and even if they fire him after two seasons his buyout will be $10m plus. That's set-for-life money.

Holy crap it's annoying. On every single UCF thread on every general college football board (reddit/cfb eh hem) half the comments are from freaking Nebraska fans. We can't enjoy one victory without being flooded with comments from those asshats. At this point, I would rather he go to the freaking Gators (hate the gators) than those corn blasters.

But Houston's situation was for the Texas Job which has been argued as the best Job in Football & Austin, Texas arguably the best 'college city' in America.
The frustration with the Frost situation is that it's the perfect storm to screw UCF. There is a very good chance that if he wasn't from there and just looked objectively he wouldn't jump to that job that hasn't done much on a grand scale since the 90s

I don't think it's as easy of a decision as you make it out to be. If (when) Norvell bolts, they will lose a lot of their recruiting class just like they did whenever Fuente left. You can't do that every two years, it is not sustainable.
We lost a lot of recruits when Herman left, but Applewhite saved a lot as well.

Oklahoma hadn't done much for about 15 years before Stoops since Switzer left in the 80s. USC had a bunch of down years. Ohio State under Cooper was very average at best. Michigan was pretty below average for a while. Navy was terrible for decades.
It's all about putting the right coach in the right position with a good crew of assistant coaches.

I agree, and Herman turned down a lot of "lateral" moves. Maybe Frost will see Nebraska that way. Then again, he's an alumnus and maybe he would want to go and try to right their ship.
UCF will do everything in their power to keep him.

Yeah I think we have to try to promote Chinander to HC and keep Walters on as OC while giving him play call duties.

Oklahoma is 200 miles from Dallas, one of the top metro areas for recruiting. USC is in the heart of Los Angeles with perfect weather. There are a lot more negatives to the Nebraska job compared to those two.
