Starting over from the top
Using the current 3 access bowl format, we should explore moving back to 6 conferences and start using champions only
While this does not solve all problems, it does get us more regional conferences with more local play and a championship path that is guaranteed (sort of).
I think we will see conferences return to the 11-12 school level for this exercise and since championship games can be held with less than 12 teams:
The PAC stays the same...no changes
Bring back the Big East:
BC, Syracuse, Pitt, Penn State, Rutgers, Maryland, West Virginia, Louisville, Cincinnati, UConn and Temple.
ACC:
Virginia Tech, UVa, Carolina, Duke, State, Wake Forest, Clemson, South Carolina, Georgia Tech, Florida State, Miami.
SEC:
Kentucky, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Georgia, Florida, Auburn, Alabama, Miss. State, Old Miss, LSU, A&M.
Big 12:
Nebraska, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Arkansas, Texas, Texas Tech, Baylor, TCU and Iowa State.
B1G:
Missouri, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Northwestern, Purdue, Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State
Indianapolis becomes to football what Omaha is to the NCAA baseball world series. Semi finals to be located in Dallas and Atlanta.
Access games: Rose Bowl (B1G, PAC), Sugar Bowl (SEC, Big 12), Orange Bowl (ACC, Big East).
Somewhere along the line greed got in the way of common sense.
