I decided on April 7, 2017 to change my life to a one of health. Giving up soda, added sugar and fast foods, for a diet of fruits and vegetables along with healthy proteins.

I also started walking...and a lot of it. For several months, while the weather was nice, I was averaging close to 20,000 steps a day. Of course my employer helps in this as I can get around $100 every quarter for tracking my steps and a few other daily things.

Anyway, I'm happy to report that for the first time in over 30 years I am now below 200 pounds and am less than 20 away form my ultimate goal to lose 100 pounds total.

Excellent! Have a plan and execute it. I spent 40 years of working high stress infrequent exercise jobs and it dang near killed me. I do just over 2.3 miles a day at a very brisk pace. The lbs are slowly melting away. The gut is the last to go and that proves there is a devil and that he's always trying to discourage you. I'll feel I'm back when I can run intervals like I did just after I got married. Fruit instead of sugar has also been a key and portion size has been my most successful approach to food.

Keep it up and God's speed!

Enormous task of willpower.

Well done!

Since my diabetes issues last month (my sugar reading was 400), I have stuck to a very low carb diet and 7 very small meals a day. Plus just some daily walking. I actually replace most of those 7 meals with a bottle of glucerna several times a day.

I haven't been near the scale, but I have clearly lost weight, nearly a full pant size. But more importantly, my bloodsugar readings are within a healthy range as of late. I was having some rather serious side effects such as rapid hair loss, blurred vision and sharp pains in my feet, all of which have stopped.

My vision has actually improved from where it was last month. I'm not even using my reading glasses and the text of my bibles and other books appears much sharper as of late.

Next goal is a half marathon in 2019.

Very nice. Congrats.

Good job Tom! I've lost 30 pounds since starting a keto diet. I discontinued it when I reached my goal weight of 170 but have pretty much continued avoiding bread, pasta and limiting my carbs. I used to be a gym rat but I've done this without exercising at all. I've been off keto for a month and am currently hovering between 169 and 172. When I hit 169 I got worried that I was still losing weight without trying and I feel small now.

Anyway, I digress. Congratulations are certainly in order for your willpower and dedication to being healthier.

Nicely done all. I can't stress the motto from my wellness coach enough.

80% - Nutrition (what you do AND DON'T eat).
20% - Exercise and an active lifestyle.
100% - MINDSET! No stinkin' thinkin'.

Lastly, it's important to continually mention that everyone is on a diet ALWAYS. Your diet is what you eat. So unless you stop eating (not recommended) you're always on a diet. It's just a matter of whether you are on a good one or a bad one. Plus, the formula still has not changed. If you burn more calories than you take in, you'll lose weight! 03-wink

Forgot to post that I successfully completed by first half marathon on April 28th. Didn't quite hit my goal of 2 hours (ran it in 2:15), but I did manage to keep running the entire distance...so I have room for improvement at least! 03-wink

Yeah, I have one on there for my local running group and I thought about one in each corner for 5K, 10K and 13.1, but I think I'll just stick with the one. Not a big sticker guy on cars either.
