They (the media outlets) are really not interested in getting it right. I was stunned when both the UH game and the HBU game were shown as "late game" in the results section last Sunday when both games started around 6:00-6:30.
It's just a sign of the times...when most sports news is either (i) following a local pro sports teams or (ii) using national services for the bulk of the remaining information.
I have no doubt they sent the Chronicle the information in some form. But since this was a very recent development and the Chronicle has made this error before, more clearly needed to be done. The Chronicle may be indifferent to Rice football, but it is also a highly professional organization that doesn't like to make errors. Hopefully this will be rectified later this week.
That's doubtful!

Today's Chronicle once again has no TV for tonight's game even though it's been scheduled on CW all week. So did no one from the AD's office call them after Wednesday's omission?

Anybody watching the UTSA game past 708pm is very sad. ASTROS WILL WIN.

If this were your football team, would you want it on TV? Would you want anyone to see it?
That's one big concern of mine. By being good in athletics, Rice could enhance its brand substantially. But being this bad degrades the brand.

It's cute that you think the Chronicle gives a rat's ass, or that Rice has any control over the issue.

Eh, I think viewership will be in the thousands, if that. Not enough to make a meaningful impact either way.
Our bigger issue is Big Game Bailiff lays a giant egg on every nationally televised game against a decent opponent. Our chance to make an impact on third party viewers ended on the first play of the season.

I am guessing Owls will be down 24 by first pitch.

I concur that they don't give a rat's ass. But also know enough about how the Chron works to know they would have corrected the error if someone had bothered to reach out properly.

RE: RICE @ UTSA ***PRE-GAME THREAD***
Who has the edge (from http://www.houstonchronicle.com/sports/t...288419.php)
Offense - Texas-San Antonio. The Roadrunners are a top-30 FBS offense, averaging 460.8 yards. Rice is at No. 124 - and even worse in scoring. Only BYU and Kent State average fewer points. The Roadrunners are producing 5.0 yards per carry behind Rhodes (78-437, three TDs rushing) and Sturm (41-236, one TD). Sturm also is 91-of-134 passing on the season, for 1,241 yards, 11 TDs and one INT. Atascocita alum Greg Campbell Jr., has a team-high 19 receptions for 232 yards.
Defense - Texas-San Antonio. The Roadrunners are tied for 26th in run defense (118.2). Their opponents average only 3.7 yards per rush – bad news for an Owls team managing only 4.2 yards per carry after rolling without leading rusher Sam Stewart in their last two games. UTSA also ranks 14th in opponent third-down conversion percentage (28.8). Owls opponents convert 47 percent of their third downs (35-of-74).
Special teams - Even. Rice P Jack Fox averages 44.3 yards per punt. UTSA's Yannis Routsas is at 39.1. The Owls attempted only one field goal in their last three games, a successful 23-yarder by K Haden Tobola. K Jared Sackett helped UTSA rally for a third-quarter lead over North Texas with 42- and 37-yard FGs, but he also missed a 46-yarder in a 29-26 loss. He's 9-of-10 on the season.
This could be a really long night.

Bailiff deposited an egg on the FIU game that was streamed on Facebook.

RE: RICE @ UTSA ***PRE-GAME THREAD***
Just dropped into a bar for a pint of St Arnold's and talked the gambler next to me into making a big online bet for UTSA -20. I hope I end up up feeling a bit guilty for that but probably not likely. Looks we do have the advantage at the punter position tonight. Maybe we can double them up in punting yardage. Go Owls!!
