My Take:
Wow... we've got a tale of two offenses here folks. They aren't even top 100 in all major offensive categories except for having a top 70 rushing offense. Easily will be the difference in the game.
That's helpful too because I didn't realize until digging into these stats that the nerd defense is as good as they are. Top 25 in every defensive category. The 2nd best pass D in the CAA after yours truly.
CAA opponents have been SB (28.7 ppg), Elon (22.2 ppg), and UD (19 ppg), compared to our 39.8 PPG. Our offense is at a productivity level noticeably higher than the CAA teams WM has played so far.

I think this has the making of a "check your expectations" kind of week because WM still has a pretty good defense. This will be just like all of our prior CAA opponents to date. All defense and no offense. The Dukes should roll easily but expect the pitch forks to come out if it's not at least a 35 point win.

Tickets are still available folks through JMU and through WM. Lets turn the nerds' library atmosphere into another home game for the Dukes.

Three comments...

1. If the offense and special teams don't give up any goofy points, this looks like the most opportune time for the Dukes to pitch a shutout (for the first time since a 51-0 win at Elon back on Oct. 17, 2015...the game before ESPN CGD came to town).

2. Bryan Schor is now sitting at 50 career TD passes, just 1 off the lead. He likely will tie and then break it this upcoming Saturday.

3. Love these 3:30 kickoffs. Just sayin'.

Coming off the UD and Nova defenses, I expect an offensive breakout. If that happens, maintaining defensive intensity will be tough, so no shutout.

Early week weather look advises...

...another gorgeous Dukes game day. W'burg calling for sunny skies and temps in upper 70's at kickoff.

I went with the Dukes to defeat Nova 27-10 last week so wasn't too far off. This week, I forecast a long long day for the Tribe.

(I actually think the Dukes will shut them out, but will throw in the 3 pts as incentive to our defense to keep it from happening...will cover that during my daily call with Coach Trott and the defensive seniors)

WM has turned to their second (or third) string QB Shon Mitchell as well. McKee started all games up until Elon. It appears he was benched for Battle in the middle of the Elon game and then they started Shon Mitchell against UD last week, a true freshman.

Mitchell went 18-36 for 101 yds and 2 Ints. He doesn't appear to be a running threat as he had 7 carries for 8 yards. He was sacked twice. A small sample size of one start against a good UD defense that shut the tribe out.

I do think this one will be a blowout. They only scored 20 against Norfolk State and were shutout by Delaware's D.

I see this as a comfortable win. The W&M defense is no slouch but their offense is putrid. We'll make their defense more and more tired throughout the game as their offense is unable to stay on the field.

So, true freshman Mitchell is the VHSL all time leader in a few key stats. By all accounts, is their QB of the future.

Many Pug fans question burning his redshirt for what is clearly a losing season.

In any event, their offense is probably now better than the one that scored 20 against NSU. Doesn't change my earlier prediction, however.
