Exclamation Marshall’s improved Defense from this year to last year
I saw this posted on a Facebook group page and stole it so I can’t verify these numbers but unless the dude is just a liar they are interesting and obviously show improvement.

“So, I decided to take a look at the team's defensive stats compared to last year. Of course, these 2017 numbers are through yesterday's game and the 2016 numbers are for the full season, but that's some pretty incredible improvement.

Total Defense
* 2016: 107th (455.4 ypg)
* 2017: 25th (321 ypg)

Rushing Defense
* 2016: 89th (201.17 ypg)
* 2017: 29th (119.3 ypg)

Passing Defense
* 2016: 99th (253.7 ypg)
* 2017: 42nd (202.5 ypg)

Scoring Defense
* 2016: 107th (35.3 ppg)
* 2017: 9th (15.0 ppg)”

Still lots of football left to play but happy to see the D is living up to my expectations.

The ODU game was our best defensive effort against the opponent's average. ODU has averaged 15 ppg and we held them to 3 and they've only scored less than a touchdown 2 times this season, including our game.

RE: Marshall’s improved Defense from this year to last year
Moving Ryan Bee from DB to DL to anchor the defense and our weakest link last year in the secondary has grown up. With the addition of Drayton and Yulee has made the secondary that much better. Also Young has been aggressive inside since he has become eligible.

Both Channing Hames and Larry Aaron played well yesterday in place of Brandon Drayton and Marquis Couch. Both were held out of the game and should be back Friday vs MT.

To think this whole defense will be back next year is crazy. By infusing LB Darius Hodge, Donyae Moody (2017 Juco recruit, redshirting due to injury), CB Chad Clay, Nirion Washington will make it just that much better.

Your turnover margin is about to improve about. Are QB is good for about three a game.

Why are your coaches still playing as if Stockstill was in as QB. The skillsets just aren't the same. Plus 1/4 to 1/2 the playbook should have been taken away from your QB so his head wouldn't spin so much. The coaches should be playing to suit the QB that's in and not continue as if nothing happened.

I'm sure Urzua is a decent QB, he wouldn't have been recruited to a IA school if not. Just throws me for a loop that the coaches wouldn't play to his skill set.

When we played MTSU, I noticed that Urzua is not lacking of skill. I think he can make all the throws most QBs make and he can, certainly move the ball well. he does, from time to time, make errant throws and make strange decisions. I think, coaches can work on that. He has a future as a good C-USA QB.

Uzrua has some drops in UAB game that would have made a huge difference.
He had a knack for avoiding the rush and getting the ball to open receivers.
He is really good and withstood a bunch of hits.
Running game with Anderson(wr) and Thomas(lb) is really tough.
Where are the the running backs and why not run more?

Totally agree. The kid has potential. I see why MTSU posters are down on him, due to turnovers, but he's well skilled.
