HOW DO YOU LOSE THIS GAME??? ARE YOU KIDDING ME???
That was the worst play-calling I've seen in a years!!
Franklin runs wild on Akron's D, so what do we cook up? deep throws, trick plays...other bullcrap
Oh and maybe we should have GONE FOR TWO on the touchdown!!!!
AND...Bellamy is done. Brutal to come away with a loss.

True. Kinda makes you wonder how we lost 5 games with that 2015 team...
Two of those losses were to No. 5 MSU and No. 1 Ohio State. Then we lost at home to BGSU, who was shitting on the entire conference at that time.
Then, of course, the customary loss to NIU and a bad showing at GaSo.
This season: losses to ranked MSU and USC. Then we lost at home to Akron, who's 3-0 in the MAC (or you could compare it with the bad showing at GaSo.)
Good point. Maybe today was not so bad. Deep breathe.
No offense to you. BUT IT WAS BAD !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just know (me included) like to jump off the cliff quickly in these situations. Some of us suck at adversity.

Anyone who watched that $h1t show for the first half must understand that this was a serious head-scratcher in most areas... Akron didn't don ANYTHING in the second half... but our offense couldn't close pretty much all day. Not only that but doing the same thing all the way down field until all of a sudden they decide to change it up and miss deep or lose yards on a RB reverse or a QB keeper...

That was an incredibly un-necessary PI to take but thats on Asantay... he was the only one back there and he bit on it and likely thought if he didn't grab the guy he was gone... He didn't know at that time that the Akron QB was gonna overthrow him by 5 yards...

Brown was a Fleck recruit, so this loss is Fleck's fault. Good observation! I couldn't resist.

RE: WMU vs. Akron SUNDAY GAME THREAD
This team has far and away most talent top to bottom in the league. It has a first round LT, all American Kr/PR, the second leading active RB in the COUNTRY and entire senior LB core.
This isn’t a Power 5 league where every team has NFL players. Aside from Toledo which has an NFL QB that really helps shrink the gap, there isn’t another team that should even be able to compete with WMU this year.
Everyone including the admin wanted someone that was a “real” Bronco and didn’t care about bigger schools coming for him. Well you got him. And don’t worry about. Offer schools coming for him because he’s never shown anything at the FBS level in his career to make someone want him.
He left Purdue and they’re having one of their best seasons in a long time.
He left Syracuse and they just beat Clemson.
I said it last week: Lester keeps trying to be the anti-PJ. Well it’s working because players aren’t accountable and they aren’t afraid of him. College athletes need direction not a friend.

Yes. But I would say, sans the discipline and demand for execution. And if he does demand it, it certainly isn't getting across. You can't take a team used to precision and a coach that is a ball buster, to a soft, laid back guy and have it work. It doesn't. The guys don't mean to, but the lack of demand for execution just works its way into the culture quietly, and next thing you know, you are losing to Akron at home.
But let's take away all the mistakes on the field. Lester needs to be held accountable for his game managing decisions. Not going for two, mathematically speaking, is just dumb. Not going for a field goal down 11 to put you one score down is dumb. Trying to run a field goal unit with 9 seconds left is just dumb, especially when it's almost a 60 yarder.

Very, very poorly coached game. Critically poor calls preceding the late field goal. Not only do we see it but the players do too. Going to be a long and ugly remainder of the year!

RE: WMU vs. Akron SUNDAY GAME THREAD
This result is no surprise.
Saw it coming the way we played against MSU, Idaho and Buffalo for most of the game.
Eventually, you can’t hide behind a win (or loss) with poor play. If you play poorly, you eventually get what’s coming to you.
Today it reared it’s ugly head.

That's what I've heard from parents.

RE: WMU vs. Akron SUNDAY GAME THREAD
Lester seems more like that QB that has to stand in for the coach in HS that is kicked out of the game because he threw a clipboard at a ref... He has that "Im with you boys!" attitude...
That might work for a game in HS or with players in the NFL... but kids coming to college, leaving there homes for the first time and traveling possibly 100's of miles away to be part of a new family need more than a buddy... they need another father figure that can direct them... teach them accountability... responsibility... etc... Not sure how Lester is with regard to that with his players... He seems more like a friend than a parent... Guys aren't afraid to tell friends they F$%CKD up... but a father figure, No way do I want to let that guy down...
I am just looking from the outside in... For all I know Lester is actually both a friend AND father figure out there for these guys...

RE: WMU vs. Akron SUNDAY GAME THREAD
I didn’t understand why we wouldn’t go for two on the TD. It’s forth quarter, 10 mins left. If we get it, it’s 14-11, FG ties it. If we miss it we’re down 14-9 and still need a TD.
Also, why are we using our time outs with 4-5 mins left on second down? If we stop them one 3rd, I get it, but why second? We definitely could have used one on that last drive.
I didn’t understand it live and still don’t understand. Such a frustrating game to watch.

With Moreland and Daoust on staff, Lester shouldn't have play the 'heavy' role. He just needs to set consistent expectations with consistent consequences.
