Oh, I dunno, I think you were off last week. Should've put up 80+.

Talking to the players yesterday, asking a lot about the option, but they said that you stressed let's not make more of this than it already is. You're getting ready for an opponent, even if it is a little bit different, but let's not overthink it.
"Obviously this is a great offense we're playing. They've been really good at running this offense for a long time. I think the thing that I don't get is people saying, 'Well, this is a discipline game. This is an assignment game.' It's assignment every game! I don't tell them to do whatever they want any other opponent we play. I don't understand how it's different than regular football. It's a different offense, absolutely. There's a few different wrinkles. A few different techniques. A few different keys for our guys, but it's football. Let's go play football. We're really good at playing football right now. Let's go do that."
Have the guys bought in to getting prepared for a hard-nosed game, more than normal?
"I think they're a really physical team and we're a physical team too. I told those guys, 'If you want to try to out-physical us, let's roll. Let's go to the party and let's go play football.' If you want to try to out-run us and out-hit us, I'll bet on our guys."
What adjustments do you make when a team is going to run the ball on first and second down more often than not?
"I think you've got to line up like you'd normally do. Our starters are starters for a reason. We're going to roll guys in like we normally do. Everybody has had really good practices so far. It's just executing your assignment this week, just like it's executing your assignment every week. I think we have guys who are really smart and good football players. We're going to line up and play."
That sounds like Memphis coaches the last 2 years vs. Navy, when we got our azzes kicked. This year, we went to a completely different scheme for this one game, moved a LB to free safety, put 8 guys in the box and sometimes 10, had a number of defensive players play out of position, etc.
Good luck. I understand the coach's logic, but until you play them...
Pretty silly for Memphis coaches to have talked that way since the current staff has had some pretty average to below average defenses. Our DC is rolling into Annapolis with a defense ranked in the Top 2 in the AAC in every category, including the No. 1 total defense and the No. 1 scoring defense.

Players also noticed that Frost went without a chinstrap on his helmet this week during practice.
"It must be an old-school thing: I don't need a chin strap, I just throw on the helmet and play football," Griffin said. "He had us laughing all practice every time he put the helmet on with no chin strap. He doesn't care about getting hit, obviously."
Said Pittman: " We probably need to hit him to let him know he needs to put his chin strap on."

UCF didn't lose, although Navy played tough as usual.

I was very impressed with Navy. Look for them to notch a few more wins this season.

I didn't know Navy had won 17 consecutive home games until tonight. They are a very tough team. They put up the best battle of all the teams we've faced this year. I'm very impressed with the toughness and culture of Navy, I hope they do well the rest of the way.
