Army struggled to defeat 2-4 Eastern Michigan, 28-27.

The Black Knights stopped the Eagles' last-second 2-point-conversion try in spectacular fashion: The runner was hit low and did an aerial somersault into the end zone ... for the win? NO!! His shoulder hit just short of the goal line. Army wins!

OU manhandling UT. Herman not used to the inferior athletes he's having to work with at UT compared to those at UH

Given that OU laid their egg last week against Iowa State, this week they'll be back with a vengeance.

Let's not forget the two huge upsets from last night, with Cal demolishing #8 Wazzou and Syracuse-- yes, Syracuse-- shocking #2 Clemson.

Baylor on track to be 0-6.

Meanwhile, after being up 17-0, OU is facing a comeback by UT. OU leads 23-17. End of the 3rd.

WV comes from a couple of TDs deficit to best Texas Tech.
Tech had a total offense collapse in the last quarter and a half. Plus they had over 20 penalties in the game. Astounding.

Credit to Cal for sure, but Wazzu basically imploded. Talk about a school beating itself.

Leach had some prize quotes after

Quote:"There's no bright spot. We were pathetic," We're a bunch of pathetic front-runners."

Quote:"Our guys just sauntered around out there on the field like we'd accomplished something, which is obviously false, and Cal certainly illustrated that"

Also Ed Orgeron seems to be determined to separate himself from the Bailiff comparisons.

LSU 24 - #10 Auburn 23. Less than a minute left. LSU ball

Wow.

Auburn had either a 17 or 20 point lead after the first quarter. Went to a diet of runs and long passes. No short passes. Thus the offense did almost nothing after the first quarter. Curious play calling.

Temi Alaka just caught a 3rd & 14 pass just beyond the sticks ... then shed his defender and ran for a 46-yard gain that set up USF's next-play TD. The Bulls lead Cincinnati, 16-3, late in 2Q.

Perhaps Orgeron and Bailiff will have their chance to battle it out next season.

RE: Oct. 14 games
went to the Astros with 2 UH fans (yeah, I know I was slumming). They were talking about how they should be ranked by the end of the season and how they were ranked last year. Clearly college football is not a good topic right now for us and thought i was gonna barf. But the good news is that 0-5 Tulsa whomped CH, guess it was their annual cooging game. Years ago, I was in Phila the year after the Eagles beat Dallas in the NFC championship game saw THE CATCH by Dwight Clark vs Dallas in the 81 NFC Championship game. A pal said he didn't know what was better, the Eagles winning or Dallas losing. Well in the same category with Dallas is CH and the Yankees. So today with the Astros, 2 other happy events occurred.

Orgeron said he would fix things after Troy, and he got two quality wins right away. I gotta say, that's more than I expected from him.

Orgeron is showing himself to be closer to his USC self than his Ole Miss self, for now at least. He definitely gets my respect.

Not sure about Orgeron yet, but the last 2 weeks have proved there are a few universes between him and Bailiff. Bailiff being 0fer on quality and top 50 wins means that even one such win moves someone to a tier above Bailiff.

Like I said, still not sold but will admit I was very wrong on terming him as bad as I thought he was
