Good event. Lower bowl almost full. All the internet experts bemoaning this event when it was announced were just wrong. Much fun enjoyed by many. Player intros were nice, but not a lot of noise. Until they introduced Jeremiah & Jimario. Then the crowd got loud. When they intoduced Tubby, many gave a standing ovation. Good to see that and get some fresh perspective from here, lol.

Jimario looked like he's ready. No bigger, but ready to play hard. Nice leapfrog dunk to win the contest.
Jeremiah's shot still looks off. But he looks healthy and it seemed like guys were deferring to him for leadership.
Nickelberry can handle the ball well.
Parks can move. Looks very fluid for a big guy. He will be a lot to handle.
Azab and Enoh are going to be projects. Both have good size and moved fine. But looked to me like they will need to work hard on D, and will not be offensive factors for a couple of years.
Brewton has a smooth stroke. He made just over half during the 3 contest, and his shot was smooth and consistent.
Hard to get a read on Rhodes, Thornton, and Davenport. They had ups and downs during the scrimmage and skills.
Kytrel has been hitting the weights. Nice guns on the walk-on.
Jamal was the most enjoyable of the night for me. Hit 24 out of 30 to win the 3-contest. Also had some nice moves and dunks during warmups.

Lots of high school and AAU teams there. Saw some recruits. Dunk contest judges were Willie Gregory, Andre Turner, Tayshaun Prince, and Tyreke Evans. Good to see Mary Lou Johns there.

Only thing missing was a Tyler commitment! Then again, I left when the entertainment started, so maybe it happened after I left...

Good post. Jeremiah did knock down two threes in the scrimmage. He looks very confident in his overall game. I like him.

He stuck with his coach, team, university, and city when hardly anyone else did the same. He’ll always be held in high regard in my opinion for that.

RE: Official 2017-18 MEMPHIS MADNESS Thread...
Really nice crowd, well done event. Lower bowl full, club level had some folks too.

Here's my take

Martin and Rivers looked better, really stupid move by Crawford to abandon this team, he'd of had fun this year. Martin is our only point guard, maybe Johnson or Brewton can handle a few minutes a game, but Martin will log a lot of minutes.

Jamal Johnson, probably leading scorer, looked as good or better than any 2 guards we've had since Will Barton.

Kareem Brewton gives us 3 good guards, unless you count Nickelberry as a guard. Brewton can score.

Nickelberry is really a guard and is really 6'8" (I'd rather have him than KJ Lawson any day) He might be better than Johnson, but I'd bet on Johnson this year anyway.

Mike Parks is really big and the better than Enoh or Azab. Enoh is also big and will be serviceable underneath, could be a monster in a year or 2. Azab looked like a robot, didn't work at all on defense, didn't seem to go after rebounds, but he's big too. All 3 way better than Chad.

Coach Smith, well, he hadn't even prepared a 1 minute speech. He just sort of talked off the top of his head for a minute or 2 answering questions from the announcer, very uninspired, and he looked at announcer most of the time instead of the crowd. You've of thought the coach would have spent a couple minutes coming up with something to say to excite the crowd, he didn't.

Rest of the guys, Davenport, Thornton, Rhodes, they were there, couldn't really see if any were any good or not, scrimmage is a scrimmage.

Bottom line, we'll win more than we lose, probably, no super star, We'll find out soon enough.

I was counting on at least Harris being there, but I hadn't heard J and J, so I didn't know there was the possibility of Harris not showing.

Most are saying Lomax done left the building. Certainly is nice to know he attended.

Why Prince ?

Prince played for Tubby at Kentucky

Exactly my point---the wrong blue.

I have no complaints at all. The whole thing was well ran and organized. We had fun. I’m looking forward to playing the games.
