No. They were undefeated at the time I think but not ranked.

Yep, that was '03.

SMU was 5-1. Their one loss was at Texas A&M. They beat a ranked TCU on the road 2 weeks before they played us. I think they were very close to being ranked.

I knew they were "good" at the time. I strongly remember the huge number of SMU fans online talking about how awesome their June Jones offense was and how they were going to kill us... We ended up whipping that ass 28-7 or something like that. Kendrick Presley had an awesome hit on a WR that would get you disqualified with today's rules.

Lot of people also forget we almost laid a huge turd vs a terrible UCF team at home in 2011...they threw a TD on a 4th and 30 as time expired and decided to go for 2 for the win but Jacorius Cotton deflected the pass to seal the W.

Nearly crapped myself when Bortles threw that TD to get within 1 as the clock ran out. Also remember Lamar Holmes catching a 2 point conversion that was probably illegal.

i was at that game. was a monster hit. was sitting about 25-30 rows up directly in front of it.

id say the USM DB preserved the win. UCF is the one that almost stole it.

Still hard to believe a loss vs UAB cost us the sugar bowl...

And in that UCF game, our coaching staff called a defensive timeout as UCF was scrambling to get their play called and players lined up to run that 4th down play. They would have been able to snap the ball before time expired, but we gave them time to set up whatever they wanted to run as our coaches got our defense set. I remember being so mad about that timeout.
