RE: ODU Womens Lacross joins the Big East
Interesting that ODU went to the Big East and not the AAC splinter group (Cincinnati, UConn, East Carolina, Florida, Temple and Vanderbilt). But I guess once the AAC starts sponsoring the sport, all the Big East affiliates that are full-time AAC members would switch. And the Big East only needed one school to get back to six, while the AAC still needed two. Florida and Vandy wouldn't be split up, so that gets the AAC to six, and ODU gets saved from A-Sun ignominy to be the Big East's sixth. Looks like Denver and Georgetown are the best programs in the new Big East, though Florida was the only BE team in the NCAAs last season as the No. 3 overall seed.

Seems like the 4 conferences involved all worked this out in order to max out auto bid slots.
I wouldn't expect another NCAA bid for awhile after this year.

Perhaps but the Big East in women's lax isn't exactly the Big East in men's hoops. Butler's program is one season old and Marquette's isn't much older. Villanova apparently didn't even qualify for the conference tournament until 2015. Denver appears to have played its first full season in 2013-14, which also appears to be their one NCAA trip (though with the success of the men's program, it's not hard to imagine it translating).
So it'll probably be Georgetown's world for a while but there's no reason ODU can't be competitive. They're just playing schools we've all heard of now.

Norfolk to Denver for a lacrosse game. That seems cost effective.

Once every other year. Probably not a deal breaker. Certainly not worse than sending multiple teams to El Paso, San Antonio and Ruston every year.

Denver being a major hub, I think it's probably one of our cheapest trips to make.

Ill take the big east playing Georgetown, Butler, Marquette, Denver and Villanova over the Atlantic Sun playing Central Michigan, Coastal, Deleware State, Detroit Mercy, Furman, Howard, Mercer, Wofford Jacksonville and Kennesaw State any day!

Not to mention you usually have to buy your way both into and out of conferences. Spend it if you got it!

I doubt the buy-in/buy-out for Women's LAX is all that high, if it even exists. This move completes a trade off where AAC gets to sponsor LAX as well as the AAC, Big East, Atlantic Sun, and Big South all get the minimum 6 teams per conference, maximizing the amount of automatic bids each conference gets. This series of moves helps out all conferences and if there were any fees I bet they were waived.
