Wow, when one looks at it like this, kind of seems like a no brainer............ but of course, this is where the stupid preseason polls play a negative roll, when they shouldn't play ANY roll. Hopefully, the CFP really looks at the body of work, and starts from a clean slate, while reassessing the complete body of work weekly. At least this is what they advertise, but lets see it in practice.

Last year South Florida entered both the AP and Coaches polls in Week 14 only to be left out of the official Week 14 CFP poll. They remained ranked in both the AP and Coaches polls through Week 15 but the Week 15 CFP poll again left them out.
While the Bulls finished ranked No. 19 in the final AP and Coaches polls, they had no shot at the NY6 Bowl by virtue of their schedule, which the CFP committee deemed not worthy enough to even garner Top 25 votes.

UConn does have a knack for slaying one giant per season.

USF not really getting much respect from the press..........
It doesn't say hardest game. It says potential stumble. UCF plays Navy first, so OBVIOUSLY their first potential stumble is Navy. If they lose to Navy, it doesn't matter if they lose to USF. If they had played USF first, then their first potential stumble would be USF and not Navy. Get it.
What they are saying is that UCF first potential stumble is Navy, and USF's is UCF. If anything, they are saying USF's schedule doesn't have any stumbles (until UCF), unlike UCF's.
Second, not sure an article from a random 247 writer is "the press".

Nope. Navy has ND listed. So clearly, they are looking at their perceived hardest game, not their first tough game.

That's because USF doesn't play Navy, otherwise it'd be the hardest game for both teams.

Correct. I am not gonna pretend that UCF should be perceived as a tougher game than ND. However, ND is after the UCF game, so this just shows that they are listing the perceived toughest game, not the "first" tough game.
