Navy Attendance - Sold 5,000 Tickets in One Day According to Dr. Rudd
President Rudd continues to get how to use social media:

Dr. M. David Rudd‏ @UofMemphisPres 1m1 minute ago

Sold 5,000 tickets online yesterday alone for Memphis-Navy. Don't miss this one! Going to be a great one to enjoy @ the LB. #GoTigersGo

A cool result of the formation of the AAC has been the new rivalries. Who would have ever thought Navy-Memphis would such an exciting game every year on our schedule?

It helps they are good.

When Army was in CUSA, they went 13-58 in their seven year stint. Nobody really gave a crap about them because they sucked.

Army was great to have as a road game. I went to the 2000 game and it was one of the coolest experiences I ever had at a sporting event.

No doubt being "upset" by Navy plays into the rivalry as well. For it to be a true rivalry, we have to win some as well.

Having a navy base here definitely adds to the appeal of this game and also attracts fans for Memphis and navy

Exciting?

This game doesn't excite me, I dread this game every year. Boring football AND we have been losing. ;P

Option football is not boring to me. They score a lot of points.

Me neither. Unlike the NFL where every team plays basically the same offense, college football is diverse. Fun and interesting to watch teams like Navy use the talent they have creatively.

Good lord, we've only played them twice.

It's not like being 1-22 vs. UTk or 5-15 in our last 20 vs. OM.

expecting alot of navy fans on the visitor side, not looking forward to it.

The only time I have had to ask folks to stop cussing like (ahem) sailors, right behind my kids, was two years ago when Navy came into town. The Ole Miss fans in my section from the upset that same year were easier to bear. I hope we beat them by 50 and they all leave at halftime.

I'm excited to see if we look unprepared. We usually do when we play Navy.

The sidewalk Navy fans are the worst too.

I think we all know someone who has served in the US Navy. Doesn't mean you have to support their dirty, chop blocking football team when they come to town.

My brother said the same about going to see the Tigers play at West Point years ago. I went to Annapolis for last years game and was very impressed. The history of the Naval academy and traditions on display along with seeing the midshipmen and everything that goes along with their pre-game march into the stadium and in game routines. It's extremely cool.

when you give up 25 lbs to your opponent you have to use leverage.

Navy is not dirty, BYU is DIRTY!

By the way chop blocking is not illegal in itself during a play from the line of scrimmage. Only by chop blocking a player while he is engaged with another blocker does it become illegal and it is very likely to produce an injury.

My brand new grandson out in San Diego has both Navy and Tiger onesies. He will be decked out in blue on Saturday. Hope my son doesn't have to pull duty.
