Any school that has been rejected by the Belt is pursuing other avenues to FBS, including Jax St and EKU. S F Austin doesn't have the enrollment or local media of those two, but likely don't want to be left behind. Mo St needs to be FBS to move up, but they can't afford to leave the MVC to do it. Wichita St needs FBS to become a full member of the AAC, as that league won't take a start up fb program.

Wichita STate has everything they want or need from the AAC. They talked about starting football in order to get their blue-ribbon basketball program out of the dying Missouri Valley. Mission Accomplished.

That could explained why the Lone Star went up to a 19 conference of teams of Texas and Oklahoma schools. Lone Star Conference was proactive about merging with the Heartland Conference except for Neuman. Lone Star could lose like up to 5 schools.

To me the better solution would be for the WAC (GCU, NMSU, and UTRGV) to invite five schools from the Southland - Abilene Christian, A&M Corpus Christi, Stephen F. Austin, Incarnate Word, and Houston Baptist.

WAC needs to be stable first before any Southland schools joining. If the WAC could stablized with some Lone Star schools? You might be able to pull some Southland schools. I have been reading in places that Delta State might move up to D1, and they are close to the Louisiana schools in the Southland.

This is what I have been saying all along about more D2 coming up to help out in places.

You missed the point. The point is not to invite any more Division II schools, which means more mouths to feed. The point is for the existing members of the Southland to maximize their revenues by splitting a single NCAA unit 8 ways instead of 13 ways.

Besides, under current rules, Division II schools won’t do anything to maintain an existing conference’s automatic bid for four long years, which does nothing for stability.

Get ORU, Sam Houston St, and Lamar instead of Corpus, ACU, and HBU. ORU will be looking to change. Add Cal Poly, UC Davis, and Sac St for FBS in California and the WAC can be reborn as FBS.

Sam Houston St is in the FCS playoffs but can announce when they lose.

As someone who grew up in Nacogdoches (home of SFA), I Can 1000% GUARANTEE that SFA will not be FBS for at least the next 50 years. And it is all because the entire city of Nacogdoches lives in their little delusional world of "change is bad." Its a shitehole of a town and it's run by people who like it that way. Same goes for SFA.

I'd like to see 5-7 Lonestar schools move up and join the WAC. They'd bring stability to the league and a much needed geographic core.

Besides Tarleton St, Texas A&M-Commerce is rumored to be preparing for a Southland invite. Another rumor is that Prairie View A&M has been approached to change conferences. Because PVAM is an A&M system school, they may be open to it.

With the DII Lonestar Conference just merging with the Heartland Conference, something is up. Still suspect that Sam Houston St, SFA, and Lamar may leave for FBS or that Louisiana schools may be forced to merge, which would create havoc in the Southland.

A WAC could take them in, UTRGV starts FB with FBS as the goal and Wichita St and Mo St go fb only with the WAC. There has been coaches talk that fb schools will come to the WAC.

WAC football would be

NMSU
UTRGV
Sam Houston St
S F Austin
Lamar
Wichita St (fb only)
Mo St (fb only)

McNeese St, Incarnate Word, and UCA seem like stretches.

With the Southland having so many schools, something big is coming down the pike for it to consider expansion.

This needs to take place. It is inevitable and must happen soon.
