The way I see it, if ODU walks out of Huntington with a loss on Saturday, not only are you 2 games back in the standings to 2 teams, but you have already lost to tiebreak against both, so you'd be effectively 3 games back - and FAU and Marshall still have to play each other meaning one of them is guaranteed another win. In essence, you'd be 3 games back with "5" to play (for the Marshall/FAU winner). With a loss on Saturday, ODU's chances at a division championship this year would be practically zero.

So, do the borderline or questionable players suit up to play and try to stay relevant for a title hunt, or do the borderline players get one more week to make a run for bowl eligibility? If the kitchen sink isn't thrown this Saturday, then ODU would seem to be settling for bowl eligibility.

Just an observation -

Can't speak for the coaching staff, but it would take an absurdly optimistic ODU fan to being thinking in terms of winning the east at this point. Numerically possible? Of course. Realistically conceivable? No.

I'm not saying that we can't win this weekend. The talent is there. But I am saying that it would require a very different ODU team to suddenly emerge in order for us to be back in any conversation for winning the division.

My guess is that any borderline players will not play on Saturday.

Looks like Larry and both DL will be available to play this weekend. I'm feeling slightly more optimistic. Marshall sucks.

I laughed out loud seeing your comment with that avatar.

Don't cringe when one of our players knocks Lawry out of the game or he reinjures his hamstring. Sounds like the coaches are rushing him back. They said it was a season ending injury but he is back in 5 weeks. Looks and sounds like Wilder might be getting desperate.

We're hearing all sorts of rumors so not sure. Some saying he, Ray, is pushing to play. Shrug. Hope he stays healthy. Wilder has never led me to believe he'd sacrifice a student's health. Over hype someone? Absolutely.

Posted from mobile device. Hopefully it's coherent.

I want to be able to beat the best ODU team available...but not at the expense of a young man's career. If RL plays, I hope he doesn't get hurt... but I want him stuffed at the line.

I don't want him hurt either but its a likelihood if he isn't 100% healthy and going from season ending to being back after just 5 weeks is a big difference. If I was Wilder I would redshirt him at this point and let him come back as a redshirt senior. Its not that bad.

He's played too many games hasn't he? It's some obscure percentage isn't it?

They were trying to figure it out here before. I think if he doesn't play again he probably gets it (not certainly since it's still up to the NCAA's discretion whether to give him the redshirt and since it's the NCAA's call, they may just put ODU on probation to get the blood flowing to their collective wiener again). If he does play, he's probably boned.

Based on the scuttlebutt around here, RL is healthy as a horse, iffy at best, out for the year, and saving himself for a grad transfer to West Virginia.
