Typically an RPI of 41 or 42, will likely put you on the "right" side of the bubble if you are a Power 5 school and played a reasonably competitive out of conference schedule. I would say Beard's first year was somewhat disappointing since Tubby took TT to the NCAA's the year before. Looks like Anderson has gotten over the hump with his NCAA trip last season, but the posse will be back if he misses the NCAA this year.

Beard's problem last season was that his non-con schedule was so weak, and it looks like it is again this year. The only Power 5 teams they play are Boston College, Seton Hall and South Carolina. Of course, the Big 12 schedule is so brutal that it makes up for it in a hurry.

Big 12 is brutal. Interesting to see how he fares over the long-term. May never win it but, of course, he doesn't have to. Middle of the pack finish will get you a bid most every season.

6th in the Big 12 is pretty much a shoo-in for the Dance - all else being equal.
