NIU is a top D against both the run and pass right now so I think Buffalo will have a lot tougher time moving the ball especially if they have to sustain long drives.

On the turnover side NIU is 114 in the FBS in turnovers lost which is bottom three in the MAC while Buffalo is top three in the MAC right now. I would expect a more conservative game plan on offense as Buffalo is near the bottom of FBS in stopping the run and NIU should be able to run a lot against them. NIU had over 300 yards on the ground in last year's game and it doesn't appear Buffalo's run D has improved much this year.

Are you considering Buffalo's stats against the run without all those overtimes?

If true, sounds like a game we'd play Childers, if there was any question about it.

I didn't not adjust the run stats for the OT but they have yet to hold a team to under 100 yards on the ground and that includes over 150 yards to Colgate and 250 yards FAU.

I think your comment on the QB is in line with what I was thinking. If you look back at last year's matchup NIU's QB was the leading rusher. NIU also won the turnover battle 4 - 1.

RE: Buffalo
Bulls fan here. Should be a pretty good game, i hope. After the 7-OT game I'm kind of preparing myself to witness a letdown here. From what i see, your team has a very solid D and they will be more prepared for Drew Anderson. Buffalo's RB1 was out last week and RB2 (Reed) who has been awesome got hurt and missed the 2nd half. Also a couple senior WR's went down and some D players. Every team has injuries but If they don't get any of those guys back it will be a big blow. RB3 is not very productive from what I've seen. He runs hard but just not elusive.
Anyway, hope it's a nice day..the weather for UB home games this year has been awesome so far. Good luck.

Considering our QB situation, I'm not surprised. Especially if the main boarders read the Dog Pound.

The voting is split down the middle now. 8-8.

Buffalo is an above average MAC team and it should be a pretty good game but I just cannot see NIU losing this one. The only MAC games that truly worry me are the Toledo and WMU games.

What has told us Buffalo is any good other than losing to WMU in 7 OTs?

Watching the QB throw. Admittedly, I have seen too many games where an accurate QB with time to throw shredded our defense all game. Even though the defense is much better this year, I have a hard time believing it still.

We get Antonio Jones Davis back this week. Him and Schwab will share “Mike Linebacker” duties.

Ya'll need to have faith in our squad. The Huskies are a very good team and have NOT even come close to playing their best ball offensively. once our offense and QB settles in and stops turning the ball over, we will roll. The defense is THAT good.

NIU 41
Buffalo 17

Roll huskies!!

RE: Buffalo
This will be good test for our DB's. Everyone we have played has been a run first offense. If we can start to limit turnovers and get the O rolling. Look Out!!!

Preview from the trib. Interesting; he says the guess is Santa starts and then Childers gets some series and whoever does better stays in. I wonder where he is getting that guess from?

RE: Buffalo
The more I think about it the more I think we have to go with a run heavy offense. Buffalo is good against the pass, only giving up 175 yards per game, which is only about 20 more yards per game that we allow. Buffalo’s weakness is its rushing defense; it gives up 237 yards a game (putting them at 119 out of 129 in the nation), and they give up 62 more yards a game rushing than passing. Being successful running the ball also chews up clock and keeps Buffalo’s O on the bench.

That would mean Childers starting at QB. Carey said Huff had a bad week of practice before the Kent St. game. I don’t know what was with that; he is a senior and that should not be happening.

I would guess Santa starts too. Carey has come a long way but 95 percent of time he will go with seniority

a lot of people took the huskies when the line was at 3.5....Vegas pushed it up. I read that somewhere today.
