Gave up 621 yards to Air Force. And still won the game.

Navy let Air Force back into the game after being up quite a bit too, right?

Good news: we can score on Navy.
Bad news: without divine intervention, we can't stop Navy.

Gon' be a shootout.

Funny thing-Air Force threw some triple option right back at them. I haven't watched Air Force play, so I don't know if that's standard for them, but a lot of their plays looked like they were out of Navy's playbook.

RE: Navy's Defense
I think the rest of the Tigers season depends on the turnover ratio. We know we can score on just about anyone when we hold on to the ball. We also know that our defense for the most part is going to give up a lot of yards and points every week. It all comes down to creating turnovers by the other team. Ball control could be the difference between 7 wins and 10 wins.

RE: Navy's Defense
The problem with "we can score" probably will not apply to the Navy game. Remember, with Navy's wish bone offense as I call run and grind 2 to 3 yards each down will burn the clock down and highly limit our possessions.

For the Navy game we're not going to have a lot of possession to score, unless we force several turnovers in the game we'll be lucky to have 6 to 8 possessions. I just don't see our defense stopping the Navy offense. Remember, we're in the position of playing kids on the defensive side that are not ready to play yet but are being forced to grow up. Hope I'm wrong.

All three academies use the triple option because it is an offense where you can be successful with lesser talent levels.

RE: Navy's Defense
Navy got beat up during the Air Force game....they lost a couple of defensive starters (both of whom were on crutches), plus an OL.

This is also not the same Navy team we played the last two years in terms of talent, particularly on defense. They could have lost to Tulane, should have lost to Air Force, and Cincy ran up and down the field against them. If we don't shoot ourselves in the foot on Saturday, we will score every time we have the ball.

RE: Navy's Defense
In last years game I thought we scored so quickly on some possessions that our defense never got a chance to rest. On one possession I believe they scored, we ran the ensuing kick off back for a TD which put our defense right back on the field. With our lack of depth on D that could hurt us again. Navy takes forever driving the ball.
