Rice went to three consecutive bowl games under Bailiff:
2012 (Armed Forces Bowl)
2013 (Liberty Bowl)
2014 (Hawaii Bowl)

Certainly making a mountain top out of a mole hill

I’ll allow it.

Rice Consecutive Bowl Streaks:
2012-2014 (3 years)
1960-1961 (2 years)

So potentially (waeuf) this would only be the third time such a consecutive streak could be claimed in school history.

Maybe he could have worded it a little better but I don’t find it misleading. (Maybe because I know the program history already fairly well and I knew exactly what was meant).

If you want to get “technical” and count the 2013 bowl as part of two different two-season streaks (overlapping)…. I’ll allow that leeway too. But then I’ll take away the two bowls played in 1961 cause they were in the same calendar year 03-wink

Fair enough. Like I said, I enjoy the Roost. And I don't think that there was anything ill intent per se. I would have preferred if he worded it to reference recent history to acknowledge the Bailiff regime's accomplishment. It sort of gives the impression that there has been no recent success in the program.

All of Bailiff's bowl team's had winning records. It was also done against better conference competition. There's really no symmetry here between the two.

He should have just said

“Rice needs three more wins to secure a bowl trip for consecutive seasons…”

(Left out the clause “the second”) and it would have sounded more positive and also been a little, as you suggested, misleading.

Rice went to two bowls in 1961 - one in January (Sugar) and one in December (Bluebonnet).
