RE: Fire Esposito
Daniel Braverman was a Cubit recruit. You can credit Fleck and co with developing him or whatever, but they didn't recruit him and couldn't convince him to stay for his senior year. Terrible choice to leave early, in the same vein as Eleby leaving early.

Yeah, but he was part of the roster for years. It's not just about who you initially recruited when coming in, but who you have and who you need to recruit due to who you have, and making sure we have enough as the seasons go on. He was one of the very good receivers under PJ, is the point.

RE: Fire Esposito
Man, thinking about transfers has really bummed me out today.
Can you imagine how fun it would have been to see an offense with the following WRs, Skyy Moore as a Junior, D'wayne Eskridge as a senior, Jayden Reed as a Sophomore, Kaleb Eleby at QB, and Chase Brown as a junior and Sean Tyler as a sophomore at RB?
I think about the braverman graduation a lot as well. Losing that Cotton bowl set us back as far as anything else in my opinion. It just "showed" the country that we really shouldn't have been talked about as a real contender. Win that game (which I think we would have done with braverman taking the heat off Davis) and we're talked about as one of the greatest G5 teams ever.

I doubt that outcome had any impact on anything. We lost by one score to #8 Wisconsin. Winning would've been great, but I don't think it would've changed the course of history thereafter.
I'm just glad we snuck into the NY6 right before the NIL/Transfer Portal explosion. Think about who we would've lost along the way in 2014, 2015, etc. No way the core 2016 team would've been the same.

Yep! Completely agree. Those days are gone for G5 teams. We enjoyed it to the fullest for sure. What a season!

RE: Fire Esposito
No way. Next game the offense commits three turnovers at midfield, someone is going to reflexively come on here to blame Espo for not coaching the defense up enough in previous seasons to stop the other team enough.

RE: Fire Esposito
I talked to Lou yesterday. No real insight other than this was too good to pass up. He stated repeatedly to me that he and his family loved Kalamazoo and wanted to stay. And I have a feeling that this was a surprise to Coach Taylor. Anyway Lou said he's said 'no' a fair amount over the last 7 years and if he kept saying 'no' then they would stop calling. I'm disappointed because he's so great with the kids and a super recruiter. But he's super excited and I can't blame him a bit. Especially with a $250M renovation of the Liberty Bowl and Memphis trying to get in to the ACC or Big 12. It's definitely a move up.
