Sandy would call in from Little Porkys in Covington, don’t know if he worked there or used the pay phone.

Anyone know the story of why the Ditch & Jake morning show on Rock103 got cancelled? Now we're getting a syndicated show out of Utah. No good local shows for the morning drive. I don't like the grumpy old man bit with Drake on 98.1 or Mike/Mike on 92.9.

This thread reminds me that I was stupid enough to listen to all those wacky callers back then. I must have not had anything better to do.

They are also calling it ROCK 102.7 instead of ROCK 103, that just ain’t right.

One Sunday night, Ted Anderson used the term nig**r ball and George was visibly shaken up and admitted he was surprised at the choice of words. I noticed Ted wasn't on his tv or radio show for a long time afterwards.

I don’t remember that one, but I know that he was on the radio show weekly in the 00s until Anderson got caught up in the corporal punishment scandal at Hamilton. The principal at Hamilton was fired and Anderson paddled his players for missing free throws and he was removed as basketball coach. He ended up coaching at Douglass, but I think the paddling was just an excuse. I always heard Coach A liked to play with the female Wildcats. Supposedly the previous principal was complicit with Coach A’s activities or maybe even doing it himself.

Well Lapides never had Anderson on the radio show after his removal as coach at Hamilton.

Years ago Hamilton was playing Bolton. The boys team along with thug Anderson was watching the girls game. Bolton was spanking Hamilton. During a time out and when the gym was quiet , Anderson stands up and yells to the Hamilton girls" you better not let those WHITE girls beat you". The place got mighty quiet. Anderson and just about every player out of Hamilton was a thug and were trouble.

Thug?

Really? You could call Ted Anderson many things, but thug isn’t an apt description. Why this one? Read between the lines?

He gets a mulligan on the N word because that is the way society is and I don't know about him and the coeds but his players were pretty much a mirror of their coach? Didn't he have trouble at Douglas, not sure. For ANY coach to stand up and yell at a team to not "let those whites girls beat you" , there is a serious character flow. Pretty much every player that came from Hamilton was trouble, except Marcus Nolen if I remember correctly. He tried to shove his son down our throat in order for us to get Todd Day. It didn't work and they both went to be Hogs. Trouble seemed to follow him and his players and they for sure weren't Boy Scouts. Plus I never liked the BBQ shop he opened.

You calling him a thug seems to be your chosen substitute since you wouldn’t get a mulligan.

I know many people who graduated from Hamilton, including family, so your comment about Hamilton basketball players is insulting.

It’s one thing for you to provide your honest opinion and criticism of Ted Anderson; he probably deserves it. But when you devolve into bigoted stereotypes instead of actually focusing on the flaws of the person, it makes your criticism seem as issues you have not with that person, but certain people.

Don't be like that. He was gracious enough to let us have Shawne for a year.

I agree. Someone very near and dear to me taught 3rd grade at Hamilton Elementary. And four of my Tiger teammates came from Hamilton. Harris, Simpson, Levingston and Martin. Buggs got away from us to Vandy but he is a well respected educator here in Nashville.
