For Those that Think the NFL is Doing Fine...
TV by the Numbers regularly posts ratings for television. The agenda driven media won't tell the whole story of just how angry people are and the real effect it is having on the NFL. So here are some of the actual ratings numbers.

Thursday Night Football
Sept. 14th- 8.08 million total viewers with a 3.1 share
Sept. 21st- 7.45 million total viewers with a 2.8 share
Sept. 28th- 3.91 million total viewers with a 1.5 share

Basically the NFL's Thursday Night Game has lost half of its' viewers in two week.

http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/tag/thu...l-ratings/

I'll look up Sunday's and Monday Night Football's numbers later.

This isn't a link to an article. It is about the declining numbers....

Thursday Night Football

Sept. 14th- 8.08 million total viewers with a 3.1 share
Sept. 21st- 7.45 million total viewers with a 2.8 share
Sept. 28th- 3.91 million total viewers with a 1.5 share

You actually have to click on the entries to read the data. 01-wingedeagle

The agenda driven media would never spell out the truth. But I guess it is easier for you to try and distract and ignore the truth since it doesn't reflect what you want.

Still number one. Numbers split between CBS and NFL Network. Let's not forget that Amazon also streamed it.

This isn't to say that the NFL is doing "fine". TV in general isn't, but you aren't going to lose advertising dollars if you're still #1.

Jesus. It's talking only about the NFL network. The game was simulcast on CBS. Read dumb***

Its about the number of people reached, so yes, you do lose advertising dollars.

Streaming makes money from advertising too.

Is it about number of people reached or for where you sit on the list? Number #1 is still huge and is significantly higher than #2. Unless companies decide to spend less on advertising overall, the NFL isn't going to lose dollars.

If you are still #1, you still get the lion's share of the advertising.

I don't know much of anything about how this works but common sense should have a place in this......

less eyes lower amount of dollars paid for each 30 second or minute spot. You might still be #1 but the NFL gets top dollars because they reach the people the ad is after and more of them. I'm sure I could find the answer to if my common sense is correct or not but I will wait for someone smarter than I am to just tell me.

4 people is greater than 2 and 6 greater than 4 and 8 greater than 6 and 8 million is greater than 4 million. So at some point if I was buying ad space I'm going to ask for a discounted rate.

I don't disagree but my guess is also that these rates have already been negotiated at least for this season so any boycott would likely not have any effect until next season No?

Those numbers are just for the NFL Network broadcast. Unlike the previous two weeks, the game was also broadcast on CBS. So those people that didn't watch it on NFL network were probably watching on CBS. So the audience was the same (probably bigger, because more people get CBS than get NFLN).

A survey of sports bars and such may also shed some light. Are the places that carry all the games seeing a drop in business?
