Hope in seven years VT remembers to buy their band mountain climbing gear
because it's quite a climb to get to the top of section T in our upper deck

http://www.tigernet.com/update/Virginia-...st-updates

Quote: Clemson's Tiger Band is currently sitting in the very extreme corner of the upper level in Lane Stadium as they await the No. 2 Clemson vs. No. 12 Virginia Tech primetime matchup on Saturday night.

They literally have the worst seats at the stadium as the tuba section is on the last row of the upper level.

Quote:It will be interesting to see what happens to the Virginia Tech band when they visit Death Valley in seven years (2024). Currently, the opponent bands are placed in a premium spot on the lower level.

However, it's possible that the Tigers will decide to hook up the Hokies with their own upper deck experience when it's time to repay them for their hospitality.

Earlier this year Auburn got repaid for seating our fans in the upper deck only last year at Jordan Hare.

Give the Hokie band lower level mid-side seats.

In Littlejohn Coliseum

Better yet, give them the entire Thomas Chapman grandstands.

In Doug Kingsmore.

I'm guessing that was Clemsons choice. They put the band up there to get a couple more dollars by selling the lower seats to fans.

I went to a game at Clemson. As the visiting team we had similar seats. Upper deck, in the corner. We were actually above the lights.

No, in this case it was apparently Virginia Tech's decision.

Apparently, this is becoming par for the course in many places - the Associate Athletics Director of Strategic Communications for football (Pete Moris, and boy, what a mouthful of a title) was on Twitter and stated that the Virginia Tech band has been placed in the upper deck at other schools in the ACC. He cited UVA as his example, but this apparently also was the case at UNC last season for the VT band as well.

2 questions.

1) Who is the Associate Athletics Director of Non-strategic Communications for Football?

2) That is typically where visitors are put. Does it matter if it is the band or fans?

Ha. I feel like myself or Hokie Mark could fill that position.

And yeah, I don't personally see the issue with the band placement, though I can understand why Clemson fans would be peeved about it. It's happening all over the country as athletic departments are trying to maximize profits.

Best frame this picture

Because after the classlessness shown by VT that'll be the last time your band gets these seats.

Next time around they (and probably the entire visiting fan allotment) will be here

Who cares? That picture was taken the last time VT played at Clemson in 2012 when there was a completely different regime in Blacksburg. Put the VT band wherever you want, it doesn't matter to me.

Since the last time the Hokies played at Clemson, our former athletic director retired and has since passed away, Beamer retired and the only football personnel still with the team are Bud Foster & Charley Wiles. By the time VT returns to Clemson in 2024, both Fuente & Dabo may both be elsewhere.

Clemson fans really seem to be a thin-skinned bunch.

LOL

Evidently all the class at VT left with Beamer and Weaver.

In the end it didn't matter because despite the artificial efforts to silence them it wasn't hard to hear the band on TV in a silent stadium.

We were told The ACC dictated where the bands were placed. We always place the visiting band in the section next to the visiting fans in the lower bowl. We want visiting fans to enjoy their visit. (Not as much as Clemson fans have recently but you get the idea)

I've never seen so much whining. I've been to a lot of away games and they would stick our band in the far corners or upper decks. Until this season bands would typically sit in the lower south endzone at Lane but that area isn't a visitor section anymore.

What do you expect from Kap? He isn't happy unless he's complaining about something.

All I'm saying is ya'll need to invest in mountain climbing gear for your next trip because the far corner of our upper deck is a totally different animal than what y'all have in your cute little stadium.

Kinda like you not being happy unless you are taking personal shots at me?

If you don't like what I post you have two choices: ignore me or get over it. Last time I checked I didn't need the approval of anybody, most especially a fan of the most classless, dirty program in our conference, to post anything.

We'll be sure to start training up those 11-14 year old kids right now, some of whom have yet to start playing an instrument. But don't worry, that way they'll have the stamina to make it up to the tippy top of your big, bad stadium.

And just to be safe, we'll also advertise to the classes of 2025-2028 that they might regret signing up for marching band 'cause Virginia Tech inconvenienced Clemson's band a lifetime ago and caused an outcry never before seen 'round these parts.

So you are basically saying you have 15k more seats with a much worse view than what you consider the worst view in our stadium? I don't understand why that is something to brag about.

Your band was on the sideline in the visitors section, not the top of the South, those are the worst seats in Lane.

If 66k thousand makes our stadium cute to you, I suppose you don't mind when Alabama says the same to you? Afterall, VT's stadium is closer to Clemson's size than Clemson is to Bama, LSU, and Tennessee.
