I think this is the first time an Irish home game is on NBCSN, it is because of the President's Cup conflict.

The other time was a neutral site game vs BC.

Game looks great on NBCSN.

The way it's going, I'm glad it's not on regular NBC.

The ND-NBC contract that went into effect last season allows NBC to put some games on NBCSN. Makes sense that they would do it once a year, if only in the hope that it would motivate a few ND fans who don't have NBCSN on their cable system to complain to the cable operator.

That didn't happen in the past. There's only 7-8 Irish home games a year. If anything, the President's Cup would conflict with it. If we were in the 90's, there's no way the Irish game wouldn't be on NBC.

I'm still surprised it's not on NBC and the PC on MSNBC or NBCSN. Had Notre Dame been playing any of about 80 other teams, it still would have been on NBC.

NBCSports Network is showing the game.

Notre Dame played at Air Force in 2007 on CBS-SN. Notre Dame then stopped playing Air Force.

It’ll be hilarious if Notre Dame has to play some away games on the ACC-Network that’s coming out in two years.

Well, it wasn't a semantic point the OP made. The issue was Notre Dame's contract with NBC, which they've had for 27 seasons and which obviously only applies to home games. It was noteworthy that this was the first ND home game ever on NBCSN.

Yes, i mentioned that in a previous post, but that was a "Shamrock Series" game at Fenway Park in Boston.

One game a year they can move per contract terms.

The contract allows one game per year on NBC Sports.
