I'm curious to know what the "Whole Situation" is. I can't think of any plausible scenario that would reduce the severity of pre-meditated robbery done at gunpoint.

He confessed to the crime. Sounds like a "guilty plea" and relying on the mercy of the court. But, using a gun.....not so sure he is going to get off so easy.
