Anyone have a scouting report on these two? And how has Silver looked in practice? Just trying to get a feel for next year's newcomers.

Parris just scored 25 for Trinity (TX) in their loss in the JUCO Div I tournament, Trinity ended up ranked 5th nationally and Parris had three teammates ranked in the top 100 2018 players including one ranked as number 1. Most of his offers were from low majors but he did have one from UTEP. My feeling is that he is a combo guard who is a streak shooter can be red hot or ice cold but could give us instant offense off the bench.

Tourne is more difficult because he was injured most of the past two years, if he recovers and can stay healthy he could allow us to redshirt King or Jones next year.

Agree. King might be a redshirt candidate. Needs work on his offensive game.

King has shot blocking skills which you can't teach and rebounds well, needs to add some muscle like 10 to 15 pounds, Bud Jones is more advanced and looked like he lost some weight during the season making him more mobile and better option offensively.

This is just me speculating, and I have ZERO inside information, but the Toure move has me worried the most about Thompson. The best thing to do when you lose a stud center, and only have two young guys to replace him, is to add an immediately-eligible transfer. Hope I'm wrong, but that looks like writing on the wall to me.

Also, I'd expect some more attrition. We had a lot of guys that sat on the bench for most of the season. I don't think Murphy would force any out, but if they want to play college basketball, they'll likely transfer. That's the state of NCAA hoops nowadays, where the transfer list is already around 50 names, and the season hasn't even ended yet.

The fact of the matter is, with only one departing player, our depth chart of scholarship players is pretty clogged (especially backcourt):

Jackson/McAdoo
Ellison/Parris/Harris/Silver
Groce/Nobles
Minnie/Green
Thompson/Jones/King/Toure

That's also 14 players for 13 scholarships. Something obviously has to give.

I would assume Thompson and Nobles are gone.

RE: 2018/9 EMU Men's Basketball Recruiting
We have one scholie to give since Bond is graduating. My bet is that is Harris who transfers out. Maybe Thompson leaves or maybe he doesn't either way we need an more experienced backup or starter at center. I see no reason why Nobles would transfer out. He has gotten plenty of playing time the past two seasons. Green would have to sit out a year and I haven't given up on him contributing. Although the fact that Murphy would rather use Ellison, Macdoo, King and Jones over Green and Harris does tell you something doesn't it?

Wow, Nobles? I take it you guys have some info? Pretty surprising, considering he got major minutes.

that name is surprising to me too. i figured Harris and Green.

i don't want to see J Nobes leave. Chad just came up with that nickname. it can't leave us so soon.

Yes, Nobles is also a shock to me.

Would he transfer down? Or graduate and be eligible for a grad transfer?

If he leaves he would be a grad transfer. It is still up in the air.

Is Thompson more concrete?

A lot still up in the air;

Thompson; depending on his pre-draft process. I wish he didn't, but, he might have to go if he gets a good report. This draft class isn't the greatest.

Harris and Green most certainly pushed out.

Might be a lot of last-minute shuffling. For example, Baylee Steele in the middle of the summer.

Nobles, a lot might change. If you can get a free Master's degree somewhere else, that might be a draw enough too.

I can't blame Nobles at all, if that's the case. I'm sure many P5 schools would be after him too. If Jodan Price and Kellan McCormick can go to Georgia Tech, then Jordan Nobles can as well.

In regards to Thompson, I just can't see how he'd grade out as an NBA player. Too short to be a true center, and not enough of a face-up game to play PF. If he does score well, then more power to him for trying to be a pro. I hope no one is giving him brazenly optimistic information.

I think we need to pump the brakes on Nobles. Isn't that just speculation tossed in here by one person?

I'm pretty certain that James Thompson will never play a game in the NBA. While he is a force in the MAC, 6'10" guys in the NBA handle the ball and shoot threes. Overseas, however, is a viable option that someone his age would be foolish to ignore.

If Harris doesn't graduate it would be stupid for him and the collegiate higher education system to take a transfer with 3.5 years of credits.

It seems that the guy is an athlete but not really a student athlete.
