RE: 2018/9 EMU Men's Basketball Recruiting
BTW, this is both Easter weekend and also the Final Four with hundreds or even thousands of coaches there. Coaches have their convention at the Final Four.

Very much a 'dead period' for recruiting.

Think this article was posted before but if not...

It has some context, e.g., that he played behind 3 grad transfer guards, his scholarship wasn't renewed really late (not cool), etc.

Kinda strange. Was he kicked off the team? Is this a red flag?

Not sure. Might have been recruited over late.

That would be a complete BS move for a coach.

And the coach is criticized in the article. Looks like his scholarship was to be given to a recruit who was late in qualifying. (deep in the article).

Regardless, WKU had signed Bearden from UB who became eligible. Also had a very good frosh PG, Hollingsworth.

Apparently WKU is PG U.

A couple more names to watch for 2018 that may be possibilities for us.

Alabama grad transfer Armond Davis 6'6, offers piling up each day, has one from Oakland U.

Camron Reece 6'6 from Div 1 top 20 ranked Sheridan JUCO,

14.5 points per game, 7 rebounds and 95 dunks this past season

I have it on good authority that he was recruited over and decided to leave based on that.

We offered a Bond-sized JUCO SF.

http://verbalcommits.com/players/abdul-mohamed

Nice tape. Runs the floor and baseline very well. Looks to have a good stroke. Very good dunker. Seems like the type of player who would thrive in Murphy's system.

Numbers aren’t bad. He sounds like a “3 and D” wing that is becoming more and more common. If he can hit nearly 40% of his threes for us like he did in JUCO, I’d take him in a heartbeat.

We NEED threes. Could be our thinnest position.

RE: 2018/9 EMU Men's Basketball Recruiting
Don't know what to make of this Tweet about UDM.

I assume he is implying that beside Corey Allen (Ypsilanti) that Kam Chatman and Jermaine Jackson Jr. could be candidates to leave????

Chatman might be a grad eligible transfer. Jackson would be a rising sophomore transfer.

The father of each are asst coaches on fmr. coach Alexander's staff.

Interesting!

Wow, I honestly thought he’d be a high major candidate. Would be a serious haul for Murphy if Allen came home.

Tony Paul does a full article.

This has got to be a really important story in local collegiate hoops.

We all know what Corey Allen can do.

http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketb...orey-allen

Chatman, whose father is an asst coach at UDM, put up big numbers last year for the Titans and can be a grad elig. transfer.

He is a 'stretch 4' and I guess allow Minnie to flip over to the '3'. And as Sam indicates the 3 and 4 aren't that different in Murphy's defense. He'd be a great get for us.

http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketb...on-chatman

Jermaine Jackson Jr. is a very talented frosh PG. His father is also an asst coach at UDM.

http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketb...ackson-jr.

I have NO IDEA what will happen with Chatman and Jackson, esp since their fathers are still on the UDM staff.

Will some team take father + son deals? Amazing three very talented players on one team could go shopping for new schools.

My thinking is if Thompson and or minnie goes pro these may be possibilities UD transfers

I think the opposite:

I'd love to have Chatman at the Stretch 4 and move Minnie to 3. Chatman/JT4/Minnie/Jackson would be the best quartet in the MAC.

I'd like to think that players watch other local teams play on television and know what talent they have, prospects, etc. (The photo is one I took of the March 2 game vs. TOL on CBS Sports Network. It was at a pizza place near Capital One Arena in D.C. before the Wizards game.
